‘Canberra clown show’: Sky News host slams Labor's push for electric ‘clown cars’

Sky News host Rowan Dean has slammed Labor’s push for electric vehicles.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Energy Minister Chris Bowen, alongside Team Global Expressed, announced a third of their truck fleet will be electric vehicles.

“Not a great day in my opinion, for people who want their parcels delivered, not in clown cars, but with the efficiency and reliability traditionally provided by the good old fashioned petrol engine,” Mr Dean said.

The Sky News host said some of the electric trucks only go about “100k before needing to be recharged for about 90 minutes”.

“Even less if it’s a hot or cold day and the heating or the air conditioning is on,” he said.

“We the taxpayers have certainly assisted your performance by giving … over $20 million of taxpayers to assist the purchase of these clown cars.”

  1. If these are the standards of reporting at Sky no wonder nobody is tuning in – talk about projecting via a news story. Seriously guys are you pandering to an audience with an IQ of 80 and below?

  2. Electric cars are stupid.
You have to collect dozens of the most corrosive, volatile materials known to man.
You then have to use a convoluted supply chain and get along with nations that everyone hates to make that work

  3. Of course the EV trucks will work. Private companies will uptake them as long as there is a 50% taxpayer subsidy and profit and efficiency is not an issue due to ongoing subsidies. They will drop them just as quickly when the money tree wilts and they have to assume full costs for maintenance, energy and road user charges and insurance.

  4. Most EVs get about 350-500km range. Delivery trucks in the urban area don't need that much range because they're only delivering in the Sydney Metro area. And those 1,000 fires were caused by e-bikes and e-scoooters not EVs, so not sure why you're showing a picture of vehicles on fire.
So while the left is misquoting Trump when he was talking about an economic bloodbath, SNA is using the same tactics on EVs – misleading and shifting context.
You're as bad as each other.

  5. The problem is so many Aussies think this government is doing a great job.
Those people don't watch SKY NEWS, which exposes all the bullshit and says it how it is.

  6. These electric trucks will require between 15 to 20 megawatts of electricity to charge them, even if the use 3 phase 415 VAC. Where does that amount of electricity come from? Insane and sick politicians.

  7. Christine actually did a good Thing Defending Lone Post Offices being Bullied by Governments. I saw Mr Banks versus the POffice. She Stood up and Changed things For them for the Better. I was surprised. All the Negative press was just BS and Nasty.
