As an American, I’m proud to say that I watched this video in its entirety.
Here’s what I learned: familiarity breeds contempt.
The entire nation of Canada has a slightly smaller population than the state of California.
While I think that it’s really cool that people who live north of the United States have their own unique culture and country; I still fear that Canadians tend to idolize Americans far too much, despite the fact that the overall state of Canadian democracy is in far better shape than my country’s.
I know that Canadian conservatism is nothing like America’s.
It’s political corruption that breeds all these reality television carnival barker politicians, and allows them to gain power!
I reckon Trudeau is the Canadian equivalent to the Californian governor Gavin Newsom….people have voted for both of these guys solely because of their looks 😂
I’m a Democrat; and I thank you immensely JJ for your expertise and honesty in this video.
Hide the maple syrup! Trump’s coming for y’all (just joking ❤)
All the western so-called “democracies” are in fact corrupt undemocratic oligarchies ultimately controlled by a few billionaire mega donors. The voters are mostly decoration.
Monarchy isn't freedom and a democracy where popular votes don't even matter is a sick joke. Mainstream conservatism is useless you don't do anything but complain. What I wouldn't give for some rebellious conservatives dreaming of a republic.
Resigns after letting in countless migrants and a housing market even he can’t afford.
This guy is an absolute cringelord
Liberals walked into a horrible mess that the conservative party made! 10 years of Harper! Did nothing for Canadians! A useless bigot! Trudeau did his 8 years! 4 years of attacks by a corrupt pervert in the White House! And let’s not forget the daily attacks by the corrupt conservatives! Number one problem is the useless people in the WEST! That’s where Nazism runs rampant!
Giving Canadians proper choices heading into an election is bad for democracy? As long as an election is held by October this year our democracy is functioning how it’s designed and I’m yet to see a major flaw. I do see that you likely have a partisan preference to see the Liberals go down hard, but I would suggest a Conservative minority is more beneficial to Canadians than a massive majority. Many, MANY, Canadians have serious concerns about Pierre Poillievre. Government is functioning, a government elected by the people, and people will have a better selection of choice.
One could argue our democracy is fundamentally more flexible to deal with the will of the people than the American system.
Not understanding or not likely parliamentary Westminster democracy is different than the system failing. Perhaps your actual point is that you want to see electoral change in Canada. Something you’d share with people of all political affiliations. I’m game for term limits, I’m game for ballot changes, I’m game for fixing some of these problems. Simply being able to improve our democracy does not prove it is broken. The “same political soap opera” you’re talking about is the system. Often it repeats itself because the same conditions are applied over and over and over again… patterns are natural.
That was surpisingly fair. I wish your Twitter account sounded more like this lol.
It's a mess, electing a marxist and a WEF tool and "progressive" cultural post-modernist commie authoritarian socialist cloak of mao's stupid destruction of the history and identity… destroyed our country. He is not a "liberal" that's what commies do, subvert an already engrained party to take control of it. We need to bring back the Canada we grew up with, #1 stop immigration, #2 stop all stupid taxes like carbon tax and other taxes on steroid. #3 stop the temporary students and remove a pathway towards permanent residency. #5 throw out 5million of temps and students visa…
Sponsored by ground news, and yet has full onset TDS …
Anyone know how Canada's elections work? I dont understand the whole "calling an election" thing and Justin has been in office 9 years. WTF is going on? How does it work? 3 prime ministers?
ARRRRRGHHGHGH liberals and TRUDEAU !!
This was a good video.
Canada doesnt have democracy. You have spent 10 years under communism-lite.
Much better than the shitshow to the south, which will be a failed state in the next couple of years. If you don't like it here, move.
get rid of the Brits, acknowledge that everything stereotypically Canadian comes from Quebec (including your accent), and tell Quebec to get it together and improve their economy so they actually have more influence from the place where your country started.
– the opinion of an American with no reason to have an opinion on Canada 😂
Canada isnt a democracy its a corporate monopoly with a flag
Ground News is pretty good at showing Right vs Left bias but fails to delve deeper, There are right wingers who want to join Trump and those staunchly opposed. Interesting too know that Harper pretty much doomed us to Trudeau by not stepping down. While I didn't mind alot of Harper's decisions one could argue Trudeau's whole term was one big scandal in which he ruined the Canada I was proud of thus lead too his resignation. Good reporting J.J!
I like it when JJ is based
J.J. For President!
So profound. You must be an intellectual.
I liked Stephen Harper. Fight me.
As an Australian its really fascinating to see how similar but different Canada is, we sometimes joke that canada os just cold Australia, but politicaly its a completely different game
How was the Liberal party unelected? You seem to misunderstand how parliamentary democracy works. I am happy you are from the West, the stereotype of you folks is that you are stupid and conservative.
Automatic plurality premiership is insanely to me
Join the liberals, vote in the leadership, leave the liberals
Obviously our system in the US isn't ideal since we ended up with Trump not once, but two times (first time of which wasn't even a Democratic majority). Still, I would way rather have our system of voting for Senators, House Members, and President with the Electoral College over Canada's horrible Parlimentary system.
Fwiw, his PMship did overlap with 5 in the UK, 5 in New Zealand and 3 in Australia
Better to have democracy than oligarchy.
I think the dominance to social media is starting to really affect elections worldwide. The "noise" from social media nowadays is so loud that politicians can't ignore it anymore.
Saying he resigning while not actually resigning is a very justin thing to do. He cant even quit the job properly
Canadians actually have more freedoms than Americans in certain states. Where I live Pornhub is banned. TikTok might be banned in the United States soon. So the land of individual freedoms and liberties looks more like Canada the United States.
Our democracy isnt a mess, conservatives adopted Maga style campaign tactics and got a base of stupid people to rally behind them and the Liberals did nothing about it while also doing nothing to rally left support and this is what we get.
Question and everybody's opinion in the comments which one's more democratic in your eyes The prime Minister having term limits let's say two terms of 5 years consecutive or non-consecutive hopefully voted in by popular vote by the people but that's besides the point or allowing the people to keep someone empower and definitely as long as the people actually still what them empower essentially which one's more democratic limiting the prime Minister or allowing the people to endlessly express wanting them in office
The system is exactly the same in Great Britian.
You rhink you'd ever be willing to talk about Mark Carney? Hes going a bit viral right now due to an interview on the Daily Show. Would he be a decnt contender against the Conservative Party? Your thoughts on how he would perform if he won etc. You seem fairly objective even while displaying your own opinion so I like to turn to you on matters such as this.
My Dad used to be proudly Canadian. Then the second Trudeau got in again, and again, and again. Now he just identifies as Albertan.
