As the Canada Post strike drags on, a growing backlog increases the chances that parcels and letters won’t make it to their destination by Christmas.
The strike is expected to have the biggest impact on charities and small, family-run businesses.
Meanwhile, workers don’t appear set to head back to work any time soon after Canada Post said Saturday there’s been no “major breakthrough” in talks.
Anne Gaviola has the latest on the ongoing strike and its impact on Canadian businesses.

Of course the federal government will not step in to stop it. It mainly hurts regular folks and small businesses, which are two groups the government does not care about. If it was affecting very large corporation, they would've stopped the strike on November 16.
Oh no my fliers and pre-filled out package slips where I have to drive across town to do their job for them

Ill never forgive Canada Post for this…if and when they go back into work ill make a point of never using their services…ill be using their competition from now on…good ridden Canada Post.
These employees of Canada post are spiteful babies !!!! They should have dropped off what needed to be dropped off before going on strike , then just stopped accepting new packages , I’ve lost all respect for Canada post
I have a 500$ ebay order out within canada post and i could possibly have to refund if that is the case , i cant have an order take over a month to be delivered. Way to kill Canada.
Thank god I did all my Christmas shopping early this year . Business will find a way around Canada post its time for business to find new ways to send there packages to people . They are losing money and they want higher wages bye bye Canada post …….😅. Fire them all and hire new people simple
Online cards available for about $40cdn/yr, unlimited, all occasion. Google e-cards. Rest in pieces CPC employees.
CP employees boast about working there for long periods of time & how hard it is to get a job there.
That tells me everything I need to know.
Keep this strike going so the union bleeds out millions of dollars in strike pay !!!! ahahaha
Seems like the laziest of workers are always on strike.
So what now they are going to stop talking because they are so far apart. Isn’t Canada great. But hey Santa Clause letters are going through. So may ask Santa if he can deliver my package.
Idc about canada u people voted for trudeau.
I got notification today that after December 1st packages will not be delivered for December 24th .
So we are down to the final hours now . If they dont fix this by this weekend I say they are done . Going to be a really long strike after Christmas.
Thanks a lot Canada Post. Now because of Canada Post we will not receive our Christmas Gifts in time for Christmas.
Once again, Canada Post delivers lumps of coal. Way to go. Thanks a lot. 👎
Legislate back to work
Defund it along with the CBC and let Canada prosper.
Canada Post and it's striking workers have really shot themselves in the foot and this strike maybe the final nail in the coffin. I am all about fair wages and the workers right to strike buuuuut….
1) When a company is operating at a major loss year over year and find them selves in billions of debt, in which world do you think a 25% pay hike is possible?
2) What makes you think holding small businesses and regular citizen mail and service hostage is going to help your cause- millions of packages, payment cheques, passports and letters on standstill. Lots of angry and bewildered people Millions of parcels that would have been sent these weeks means almost a billion in lost revenue. Huh?
3) As someone who used to count on Canada post for our main source of shipping, I can honestly say, I am done with you, Now that you've forced me to explore my other options I've found that UPS/Purolator/Fedex/DHL blow your prices out of the water and I am saving $$ hand over fist. I am used to waiting in line for a while and then the painstaking wait for 12 packages to be processed individually. Now I print a label and just drop the packages off and leave.
I will still use you service when I am forced to like sending letter mail for 1.95 but have learned that your inefficiency and price is not conducive to a good business practice and will be giving my business to those who appreciate it and are willing to get the goods to the hoods.
Canada Post and it's workers…..
You really fkd this one up. Last year I spent over $20K on shipping with Canada post and this year I've already surpassed that and still have December to go. Yall need to give your heads a real good shake and wake the f up. Rant over.
I do believe that was the proverbialgun they where trying to hold to the heads of the canadian population ….
Execs make 250k to fail. Mail carriers scapegoats
My children's Christmas Gifts from Granny and Grampa are stuck in the Canada Post mail system. The kids are starting to cry because they realize they will not get their gifts on Christmas Day. Every year the best gifts come from their Grandparents. But not this year thanks to Canada Post. They do not understand how a company can be so mean to children and not deliver their packages. As a parent I can see my kids are being traumatized by Canada Post.
They have free gas and car. Canada Post should hire new employees and fire old ones
The government has spoken, time to get back to work or get a real job for min wage where you can't sit on your lazy donkeys all day in an air conditioned vehicle…
I'd say electrified doorbells will be on the rise to target CP workers, but they never ring them anyways 😂
when will they get smart and just purchase robots, to replace them all, in my opinion and with out prejudice
says saver working conditions, next they will ask for memory foam beds to sleep on, when at work. wow in my opinion and with out prejudice
……….The private sector like UPS anf Fedex actually pay their Drivers more than Canada Post pays their Drivers. The Public enjoys cheaper prices using Canada Post then UPS and Fedex because Canada Post has cheaper labour costs for their Drivers.
People at Canada Post are underpaId. Canada Post froze the wages for 10 years under Harper and took half the Benefits away. The workers took a pay cut. Now the workers are trying to recover some of their lost pay. It is not the workers fault Canada Post is so poorly managed. Losing $ 3 billion over six years is bad management. Drivers at UPS and FEDEX are paid more than at Canada Post. Facts……….
……Drivers at UPS and FEDEX are paid more than at Canada Post. Facts…………..
……I THINK ALL THE CHEAPSKATES SHOULD USE THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO SHIP THINGS.
THE DRIVERS AT UPS AND FEDEX ARE PAID MORE THAN AT CANADA POST. FACTS………..
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
Stop being greedy and go back to work. Holding a strike at one of the most important times of the year, should be unlawful.
Time to close down canada post for good . Lay off everybody . Asking for 24% raise in a broke company that lost last year alone almost 300M $ !! Just insane how this union think , at the end , with all respect , most work in canada post is non-skilled work , they are disconnected from the tough reality that all Canadians are living right now , it s difficult everywhere ! Many many many canadians are looking for any job , Wake up guys before it s too late .
At least , the strike should ve been done more smartly ..meaning after christmas and partial strike .. that s not smart … but what do u expect from non-skilled workers when giving power..sorry but you lost support from the public
