  1. It's amazing how much empathy and thoughtfulness these designs have. And it's fun to think about it in terms of simulating the experience people had living in nature for thousands of years: the change of environment, the moment the landscape opens up, the moment you enter or exit the forest. It feels like there is a connection.

  2. Nice work 👍
I'm thinking that robots will play a very important role in this crazy odyssey.
They should be able to prepare a safe structure to give shelter for the first "Pioneers". I would even go further with this. Everything should be ready so that pioneers can focus on essentials for survival of our kind.
Like finding sustainable ways to generate water and food, medical aspects, energy production, construction of tools and other necessary things to permanently stay there.
Yeah, sending food packages and microwaves is not going to be a long term option.
Anyways, it's like Elon said. This is possible today and as long as the window of opportunities allows it. I'm crossing my fingers it will stay for a long time.
Take care and have fun ✌️

  3. I think I would quite like a design similar to that horizonal one that places the areas in distinct sub buildings but placed the garden at the centre. This would mean walking through the garden to go anywhere so in that sense it could double as a small urban park. Add some benches and such in there for people to sit and be alone with their thoughts and the flowers or to sit together and socialise if they so choose. Ideally design the garden so the paths through it don't take straight lines I feel like that encourages people to stoll through and enjoy the scenery a bit more. I think this sort of thing would be harder to implement in a vertical design having that central third place that is both nice to walk through and spend time in.

  4. Awww hey really enjoyed that bravo top banana! 👌🍌🎩🌠 The 'KAHN / YATES design definitely follows the path to 🌟 'design to thrive' 🌟and not just 'survive' (love that!) >> there is a docu/drama series called 'MARS' on Prime Video made by National Geographic (In a unique hybrid of scripted drama and documentary, executive producers Brian Grazer & Ron Howard present this epic series following a thrilling quest – in 2033 – to colonize Mars.)👌🌟 worth a watch folks! 👌💯🎥

  5. Y'know, there are people who really like routine and regularity. Maybe we should be looking for our Marstians amongst people on the Aspy and autism spectrum? Plenty of extremely bright people to choose from in that pool, even (especially?) amongst those that can mask well enough to get by with the normies.

  6. In my Opinion, the first thing NASA will work on is establishing a powerful communication system between satellites or whatever, that are in earth's orbit and mars's orbit. data is the most important factor, and if they succeed in establishing a quick communication system, this would open up the doors to mars, as they'll be able to control drones more efficiently, drones and robots that'll be our "vessels", humans don't have to travel to mars, they can be the "hosts" of these robots from distance. as travelling there without having direct interaction with the environement means not living, and no point in travelling if you can't live.

  7. Thanks for this video on Mars. Mars looks daunting because most of the information shows it like a camping trip at best. Very little resources and support for the people living there. Think of humans living on Mars as the birth of a new nation. They need heavy Earth or in their case Mars moving equipment. They dig deep into the surface. Since Mars has less gravity it requires less energy to move mass around. So they dig 100kms beneath the surface. They dig wide, say the size of a nation, can be small like Singapore, can be big like Greenland. They cover the surface with a material and use tensile strength to keep it over the large pit. Think of the roof of this massive pit as using tensile strength the way a space elevator would use tensile strength in its cable. On Mars gravity is less and depending on the dimensions of the large deep pit, many current materials can be used to cover it. Once you have a wide space you pump in oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide creating a breathable atmosphere and pressure. You can introduce plant life and animal life into the structure. It is a place humans can build houses and move around freely without the use of spacesuits. As for gravity, you can build rotating habitats inside this area so people can step into them to exercise. Or the houses can be built inside the rotating habitats. Planets can have rotating habitats that augment gravity though most people are most familiar with rotating habitats in micro gravity environments in space. With an atmosphere you can have flying machines. As for the surface or place where the people live, you can have electric cars moving around on the ground. You can vary the surface and make mountains, hills and valleys. You can have lakes and water sports. Mars can be a fun place. People might ask how you would get heavy equipment there? Well you have solved the space launch problem. You have nuclear power at the start to enable all this construction and other activities.

  8. Thank you! I love the quality of the research, the diction which is so agreeable to listen too (minus the slightly annoying vocal fry, no one is perfect (●'◡'●) )
I never comment, but I wanted to express my love for your work. Keep on doing better and better.

  9. Right now we can't even take care of the planet we were given to care for by our creator. thus any and all planning on us actually leaving this planet is just dreaming at this point in our technological evolution as those on top simply can't stop taking advantage of others to support their way of life. All of these capitalist countries can't survive without being able take advantage of others to include it's own citizens. They are right now shipping their garbage to poorer countries. They are also stealing the mineral wealth of the true riches countries while at the same time trying to keep those counties who's resources they depend on to keep their way of life going unstable.
No, until capitalism totally fails humanity will simply not be allowed to move forewords as it hurts those at the top bottom line.
The technology I am currently working on should have come out way back in 1968 but it has been put down by those that sell energy over and over again each time it tries to make it to the marketplace so that the people can have it.

  10. I love these videos. You have a gorgeous mind. The cadence, with which you walk through concepts, is both illuminating and exciting. You have a good sense of timing. Keep it up! As a person who's spent a career in science I appreciate you.

  11. Your vertical idea is based in pure fashion. Military engineers will make it simple and strong by building at ground level, less energy, less time, faster access. The main reason to go Mars is to exploit natural resources,MINING BASE/LAB,the science part is to keep school kids happy.
