Can Ronin 4D DEFEAT FX3 and Challenge V-Raptor (NERD ALERT)

DJI Ronin 4D made history when it came up with the first Camera/Gimbal hybrid camera! BUT what about its image quality?? Is it as impressive as its gimbal innovation? In this episode I’ll unveil the Ronin 4D’s IMPRESSIVE low light performance, how it destroyed the FX3 at high ISOs, and how it challenged cinema beasts such as the RED V-Raptor.

SPECIAL THANKS to my fellow filmmaker Dushawn for helping with the camera comparisons. Please check his channel and share the love: https://youtube.com/@JustDushawn

  1. Great video man! I've also told DJI they need to ditch that whole gimbal setup and make just a cinema camera. They would attract so many buyers, the limitations of the gimbal + lenses makes it a deal breaker for many.

  2. Can you do the same kind of video but with the Fuji xh2s new camera? It's such a good one but I think everyone sleeps on it because it's not from a "video centric" brand. Thanks

  3. Sorry for the bad English, I'm Russian, but I have long come to the conclusion that the dual native iso is not designed to reduce noise, as many bloggers claim, but to be able to re-redistribute the dynamic de-range in shadows and lights.

  4. And then, I guess we will see what Sony comes out with next. If nothing else, having competition drive quality is important, but so is pricing. Hadn't looked at the DJI, but looks like twice the price. Maybe a good value there, I dunno. Odd form factor? Anyway, interesting comparison. Still, as much as tech folks like specs and 'nerding out' as you mentioned, lots of amazing work being done on the FX3 and other compact cameras. Coming from old school BetaSP and before days (3/4inch), seeing the birth of digital NLE, and the birth of digital cameras all together…I tend to focus on the embarrassment of riches every day people have with access to such great technology at fractions of prices we used to pay just to enter the field. Cheers.

  5. DJI absolutely failed this camera for marketing. Almost all of the people who reviewed this camera did a horrible job color grading the footage and DJI's own videos for the camera look passable at best. Thanks for showing it's not absolute trash like I thought it was from just watching reviews.

  6. Great video. I honestly couldnt be happier with this camera. When you break down all the things about the camera besides the gimbal, it is hard to beat. Pulling focus from the handle, moving camera head with joystick, blackmagic style screen interface(touchscreen and user friendly), the image!, pull focus on manual lenses(w/focus motor for ronin 4d) and calibrate to autofocus, switch camera mounts to E,M,L,or DL mounts. When you think about price and how much you would have to buy to make any other camera do all of this its a no brainer. Aprehension of buying is typically because of price, you are not sure and it looks weird, Your secretly jealous, or you think it has limitations on lenses. Well im hear to say every time i use this camera and show other filmmakers they are like "wtf! This is ridiculous and amazing". It immediately has that magic feeling you felt when you were a kid playing video games.

  7. The Ronin Camera is interesting but I think DJI has a long way to go of building a good cinema camera but at least they are on the right way. I have an FX3 and an FX6, I use them with an Atomos in ProRes and RAW and internally for slow motion 120 fps in 4k and the quality of these 2 monster cameras are incredible, both base ISO 800 and 12800 so clean in low light condition. I have worked with RED and they are good cameras but for some reason Sony gives that clean and cinematic look that I do not change my Sony cameras for any RED, Ronin or BMPC because with a RED in night scenes you have to turn on good expensive lights to keep that noise off the sensor but with a Sony with a 120 watt light at 12800 ISO the image looks impressive and clear.. Another thing that Sony helps a lot to film is when you are going to use the auto focus, Sony is impressive in that area and when you use the Manual focus assistant it makes it easy for you to work immediately by focusing yourself with a button, instead with a RED you have to pay a Focus Puller to be aware of manual focus, more long hours of filming etc etc etc. Good video master, we have to wait a bit for the future of DJI to bring us with its new facet making cinema cameras.

  8. I know it is completely wrong comparison but a7iv has better noise performance in that iso 4000 and 10000 range. Even if that camera cannot shoot raw the details are great. Also Canon R5 and may be a1 can also be tested. This test obviously wont be for cine pros.
