Camping on an Island (Catch and Cook)

Strapping everything I need to survive to a paddleboard and camping on a remote island. In the pouring rain. The trout were hungry this weekend. It’s been special looking back at where I’ve come in terms of my survival and fishing skills since last summer. A homage to one of the first outdoor videos I made.

My dog, Kyro, and I are based in British Columbia, Canada and spend the weekends solo adventuring, exploring mountains, camping and paddling. New videos twice a month :).

  1. Excellent video,I love your adventures! I noticed your super cool wrist watch, could you tell everyone what kind it is? I’m guessing Garmin? Regardless it suits your adventure lifestyle keep up the good work.

  2. Great video! Your fishing skills are definitely improving, but you need someone to show you how to hold a spinning rod. You must be in really good shape to go camping when it is cold and rainy! Keep these videos coming. I think one of those fish that you couldn't identify was a (mountain) Whitefish. I don't think I could get in or out of a drysuit!

  3. The proper way to hold a spinning reel/rod it to put the metal piece that connects the foot to the reel body in between your two middle fingers, not holding the rod at the very end. Holding it the way that was explained gives a secure hold, good feel of the rod/line for a biting fish, and a large fish is less likely to yank it out of your hand. Also, if you are right handed, you hold the rod in your right hand and reel with your left and vice versa. Hope this helps
