Cabaret & the Seductive Power of Evil

It’s 1971 in a filthy German nightclub, and Liza Minnelli is starting to think she’s made one of the worst mistakes of her life — and she’s not the only one. But what nobody realizes is that the weird little low-budget queer musical they’re making would become the stuff of Hollywood legend. This is the story of Cabaret — the film that made icons out of its stars, transformed the very genre of movie musicals, influenced art and culture for decades to come from Chicago to Schitt’s Creek … and served as a warning that’s as timely today as it was back then.

  1. Both Hitler and Stalin were
    socialists. In the twentieth
    century, socialists around
    the world murdered more
    than 100 MILLION of their
    own citizens. Socialism is
    a demonic death cult, the
    modern TOWER of BABEL,
    a JACKBOOT stamping on
    a HUMAN FACE FOREVER.

  2. So the Nazis wanted to perform abortions on the Jews …. because they wanted to stifle the Jewish population to extremes and hated the Jews…but somehow you're still going to try to label it as not murder and genocide but "reproductive rights"??? Lol They were protecting other babies and mothers because they valued their German people….they didn't value the Jews obviously quite the opposite. They valued them as human guinea pigs and beings to torture.

Have you had an abortion or known someone intimately that has? My guess is that you probably haven't. It always does damage to the mother unlike full term pregnancy and it always does harm to the child even if unsuccessful, also unlike full term pregnancy.

I know you're clearly not getting the essence of the propaganda there but maybe just stop and have a think for a minute deeper than what is popular in the entertainment industry.

  3. We stand at a similar point in history. It seems that Americans have forgotten or never learned about the threat of totalitarianism in the 20th century and the world war we fought to control it.

  4. We in Britain worry that this could easily happen in America if the Orange Turnip makes it to being your President again, this time, backed by a lot of very much more sinister and reactionary people than Herr Hitler. That singing young man remains the most chilling scene in the past 60 years of movies.

  5. During the Hitler Youth's piece, while the rest of the audience was getting all stirred up, did you notice the dismayed old war veteran who was shaking his head? That was General of the Armies Omar Bradley. Bradley briefly mentioned this in his autobiography. IIRC he was in Germany finishing up with the movie Patton (1970) when, and I can't remember the details, he was asked if he would like the uncredited role. To do this? Bradley jumped at the chance.

  6. Cabaret has become a horror movie for Americans due to the similarities in the rise of Nazism in Germany and the rise of MAGA in the United States…..both horrific for their countries…
