Buying a new Mini Excavator / Maintaining Forest Roads – Takeuchi TB217R

I’ve been looking for a 2nd hand mini excavator for few years, to maintain my forest tracks. They all seem to be over priced or worn out, so I decided to buy this new heavily discounted last years model TB217R from Central Group NZ – https://bit.ly/CGCE Its a great little machine.

  1. Hey Marty I’m a plant fitter in the uk have worked on most brands of machines big and small and I can hands down say that Takeuchi is the best mini ex on the market to my knowledge the build quality is unmatched and part prices are reasonable all the operators seem to much prefur them to other machine brands too. When you get 5 minutes take all the small screws out from the dash panels and controll lever grips and grease them as they can be a pain to get out 5 years down the line on the canopy models and keep the shaft that all the controll linkages work though under the floor clean and well lubed as the small bearings on the end can seize and give you sticky pedals after a few years also change the final drive oils every 500h not every 1000 especially of your doing a lot of tracking but there an amazing machine I will be very surprised if you ever need the warranty but like you say it’s nice to have happy digging !

  2. The thing I find the most hilarious/intriguing is watching your equipment, vs your utes on the tracks…
I would question taking my F-350 single rear up these trails…
A huge part of why I watch!
Glad youtube and life.are treating you this well!, but I prefer "pre emissions" everything personally.

  4. as much as i like the old machines, all the extra features of the modern machine really does speed up the work.

i think i recognize at least three discreet machines this new one is doing the work of, all without you getting out of the seat.

  5. Imagine – Marty T with a brand spanking new machine!! Couldn’t happen to a more deserving man. The love you put into those old machines has come back to you and the machine gods have said β€˜Give that man something new!’ Glad to see you have that.

  6. Just recently a buddy asked me why there are so many old backhoes on the market, … selling for half what they used to bring ? And I told him skid-steers and mini-excavators are the new technology, that doesn't require a dump truck and lo-boy trailer to get around.

  7. We used this model excavator at the Council works – awesome little machines, especially with the tilt bucket. They do like to throw their tracks once they get a bit worn though.
