A bullock was dramatically rescued after being winched out of a sinkhole by its hind legs at a holiday park in Durham.
Video footage captured the moment the cattle was pulled feet first from a hole that had just recently opened up at Witton Castle Country Park in Bishop Auckland.

According to holiday park staff, the rescue operation was carried out with help from a nearby farmer after the bullock “fell into some sort of sinkhole which nobody knew about.”
The 94-second clip starts with three men standing next to the edge of the hole looking into it before a fourth in a tractor starts to winch the animal
Hooves can be seen emerging as the bullock is steadily raised from the hole with blue-coloured strapping attached to its back legs.
After its full release from the sinkhole, the animal is then lowered to the ground before the men hold him down and remove the straps.
Once free, the bullock is seen gingerly walking away from the sinkhole before being greeted by other cattle who had seemingly positioned themselves near the winch operation. The animal was said to be unharmed.
As the video comes to an end, the camera pans around to the tractor driver who remarks “and that’s how you pull it out”.
The identities of the rescuers are not revealed in the footage.
It’s not immediately clear when the rescue took place but the footage was uploaded to the Witton Castle Country Park Facebook page where it has racked up more than 2,000 comments and shared nearly 6,000 times.
A caption posted alongside the video reads: “Witton Castle comes to the rescue with local farmer! 🙂 The Bullock fell into some sort of sinkhole which nobody knew about but is now absolutely fine in the field with his pals.”
The holiday park, which is set within 330 acres of countryside, which also includes a 15th century castle, said it was unable to provide further details when contacted by the Telegraph.
