Just watched the documentary on another Youtube channel before coming here to see your reading. Its a very interesting story, but was very sad in the documentary that, when Buffy's brother wrote to various media outlets exposing her, she contacted him to say that if he continued, she would say basically that he was a p***o and had a***ed her as a child. Later on after her brother died, she talked about him doing that in one of her documetaries. Struck a chord and is quite reminiscent of what I feel MM might do to her father. HG Tudors done a series on Buffy Saint-Marie too, examining whether shes a narcissist, so i'm heading over there after listening to your reading!

An adopted person of that era would not have been told she was adopted let alone been able to find out who and where she came from. Many many children of that era were physically removed and given to white families to be brought up white. It was the American government behind this. She really may have believed she was indigenous
Give back the money and awards
Very sad that she felt she had to lie about her bloodline to be successfu!. Her song 'soldier blue ' was big in U.K.in 70's.

But someone has to point out a real life interaction with BSM: I have a friend who met Buffy Sainte-Marie and absolutely hates her. He said she's extremely racist against whites and was unbelievably rude to him. It's hilarious that she's white! So, was her cultural misappropriation her excuse for being a b**ch? She did play the Native card, one which wasn't hers to play, and did get away with being hateful and racist at least in one situation, because of it. Personally, I think she should lose all her awards. A con shouldn't be rewarded. I have a lot of Native friends and they've suffered enough from all the lies perpetrated by whites. This is no different than MM who claimed 100% white most of her life and now claims 43% Nigerian. It's opportunism.

In Canada, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond a Canadian lawyer and judge claimed she was Cree. She was not and returned the awards she received at Canadian Universities. There are 2 more high profile women in Canada who have been investigated as claiming they were Indigenous when they were not. The Universities in Canada have now changed their policies of claiming Indigenous ancestry.
