Buffalo, NY buried in potentially-historic snowstorm

A dangerous lake-effect snowstorm paralyzed parts of western and northern New York on Friday, with 0.91 meters of snow already on the ground in some places by early afternoon.

The storm’s severity varied widely due to the peculiarities of lake-effect storms, which are caused by frigid winds picking up moisture from the warmer lakes, and dumping snow in narrow bands.

Residents in some parts of Buffalo awoke to blowing, heavy snow, punctuated by occasional claps of thunder, while just a few miles north, only a few inches of snow had fallen overnight and there were patches of blue sky.

Global’s Chief Meteorologist Anthony Farnell is on the ground in Buffalo, N.Y., where he is engulfed in a massive pile of snow.

  2. Since when is snow measured in cm? (centimeters) well well… I don't understand inches (it sounds like fleas to me) how many inches are a centimeter of snow? Maybe to measure in inches you need at least one? Also in centimeters it appears more or less? I don't know, I haven't caught any fleas in a long time, well yes, from time to time I catch one, in "The Bar's Pressure" with ham and cheese, warm, if you add a glass or glass of wine, just one, or you would have to leave to drive over how many ham and cheese fleas? The inches, besides being a group of fleas (of ham and cheese?) Is it a group of measure, for example three or four? For a glass of wine no more, it has already been said. Well, well, well… it's a measure of Arabic origin, I think so, well, well… are they written from right to left? Nope? I write the measures in all angles and all directions. Especially if I've eaten a lot of fleas.

No?

  3. When I lived in Rhode Island there were a few big snow storms. I was in elementary school one year and I remember my mom opening the front door and there was a wall of snow literally. There were more storms like that through the years. We never had a car but taking the public bus was always challenging and impossible when it was real bad. So when ever school started again I still wasn't able to go because 1 it was a very far walk also because of the bus situation. Luckily the school understood the situation I was a happy camper that got to play and help out clearing our sidewalks.
