A D&D campaign? Nice! I also have a campaign world with a custom system of thematic magic/belief/culture on the backburner – turns out AoW4 affinities are close enough to salvage them for more ideas. 🙂
Gotta say again, Like I did on twitter when I first heard you were working with Paradox, I'm really glad that this game series is getting the the love it deserves. Every entry (except 2) in the series has been leagues ahead of other turn based combat games.
man can't find your dnd channel, what's the name again?
weird that the high evil playthrough is one of the nicest you've had in terms of alliances
I discovered the interaction between Amplified Arrows and the other rebuff effects today. I didn’t realise the bounce also spreads the debuffs, which makes for some nasty combos.
Are you going to do a non conwuest victory before your done? Magic or expansion?
1:10:38 what was that mocking bell sound effect out of left field? amazing
Your talk about the "race" to build towers as a demonstration of wealth and power reminds of what happened in the Italian (Tuscan) town of San Gimignano (known as the Town of Fine Towers). It is a neat place to visit and quite a few of the towers are still standing. Enjoying your AoW4 gameplay videos. Thanks!
Who want to bet that those tyrant knights will never get to showoff, just like his other high tier unit in the other games.
watching him build the tithe collector and circle of zealotry at the very beginning of this video when he replaced them with conduits on autopilot in the last video is so relatable.
The AI using phase abilties is always hilarious to watch. I purposely don't use units or items with phase abilties because it completely cucks your auto resolve potential. I learnt this the hard way in one of my first playthroughs when I wanted to build armies based heavily around Banshees. I could be fighting a single Tier 1 stack with three doom stacks and one of my Banshees would immediately Phase into six units, scream at them then get obliterated.
I know that you are most likely not going to play much AoW, but the scenarios are kind of interesting (specially the caldera). So maybe some achievement hunting might be in your interests?
Do you know if the night mare mount abliaity stacked with the tyrant knights ability
total war ocean battles, where both armies signal each other to drop on an island and fight there, is kinda silly. But aow4 boat battles are absolutely cursed. still enjoying it tho
The giant tower thing is a part of the plot of the Discworld book "Sourcerer"
Potato in a domination game vs all the overpowered factions he has made could be fun
Mana is WAY more plentiful than gold in this game, so paying mana for upkeep is actually a great thing. The only reason why you feel the other way round is that you are constantly spamming (completely unnecessarily btw) insane amounts of spells, which you're addicted to. And when it happened once that you had to fight without spells, because of a spell jammer, you immediately lost half of your army. That one battle showed your real competence or rather lack of it.
Gotta say i've been loving your AoW4 series – certain has made me think about the game in a different manner and play with a better approach!! Look forward to seeing more
Does it make sense to build your town with 3 foresters for example, build the associated boosted buildings, then convert them to farms and build those boosted buildings? I'm thinking this will let you get away with just 4 provinces dedicated to boosts and the others can generate mana/gold/knowledge instead.
This game looks like its on childsplay level even on the highest difficulty
what happened to civ 6?
I love Potato discovering how good morale is.
Currently crit rolls first, and automatically hits. Nothing beats +3 archers in mp currently, due to this bypassing hitchance completely, which is supposed to balance range. The underlying needs a rework, or +range made far harder to get.
city is on a narrow peninsula on a lake of lava: "hmmmm, I think I'll plant trees there!"
19:30 surprisingly good song from potato 🤣 its awesome to see high culture, every series so far has been gr8
You have a lot of excess weapons, if you sell them to your allies you can get a stupid amount of money and mana for them
what type of Dnd?
Loving the playthrough! Don't forget your Tracker's Mark from the glade runners is a free action. 😉 the lowered evasion is a blessing sometimes.
Quick tip: You can make 2-3X more gold/mana by trading items to an ally rather than selling them from the hero menu 😆
The reason why you had trouble against that barbarian army od that your army is not balanced. You are archer and skirmisher heavy, but these units – while providing high and "safe" DPS from distance – are very squishy. You had almost no frontline units that could engage and stand against enemy chargers. What else do you expect is going to happen?
It saddens me that the spring fairy/archer stack basically torched through 75% of the game, then as soon as you get tier 3 archers you ignore any chance to get another spring fairy 🙁
I think the reason Karissa's army hammered yours so badly around the 50 minute mark was because by standing put, you let the shock units get their full charges. The AI charged them first, which seriously limited the damage they could do.
'The most harsh morale penalty is dying.' Quote of the run!
I like playing long games so I keep getting score victories because I keep forgetting to turn them off.

The farmers guild is great if you've got an isolated city with lots of land to absorb (with farmable land) and the "one guild only" thing isn't an issue cause you can just demolish it later
Sid Meier's Starships when??
