In this When I Was Your Man guitar chords lesson, I will show you all the chords to this great song by Bruno Mars.

The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.

I will cover each section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording.

Since this is a piano based song, this lesson demonstrates my arrangement of those chords for guitar. If you can play simple barre chords effectively, you won’t have much of an issue playing this arrangement.

There are five sections total to learn. The intro, verse, pre-chorus, chorus and bridge. However, there is some slight variations between the chorus sections, and I will cover those as well in the lesson.

  16. Ladies & gents, Carl "Modest" Brown. 👏🏻 Louder for the ppl in the back! 🤨 Jk i understand. Bruno is a phenomenal singer for sure. I love to sing but rather not be heard. I used to sing this into a broomstick to my dogs when it came out a lot. Now i can really give them a show with this guitar arrangement 😂. Thx Carl!   27. I wish I hadn’t waited til my 30s to start playing guitar. If I would have started in my teens like most pothead punks (as I was one of them) maybe I could have been where you are now, Carl. (Who am I kidding? Bow down emoji, I’m not worthy! Etc) But I was wasting my time playing video games and thinking I wasn’t good enough to play guitar.
    If I would have bought a six string,
    Taught myself to play,
    Listened to all the albums,
    Til I knew the way.
    Instead I went to college
    Wrote papers and never learned how to jam.
    Until I bought a Dimebag Dean,
    Found this channel and remembered who I am.
    So now I rock out in my basement,
    Finally learned to jam.
    But now I’m riffing,
    riffing as a tired old man. 😉
