A level crossing with an obstacle detection system located on a reasonably quiet road next to the sparsely-served railway station at Broomfleet in the rural fenlands of the East Riding of Yorkshire. The current guise of level crossing equipment dates back to late 2018 from re-signalling on this line, which closed most of the signal boxes between Hessle, Saltmarshe and Howden, apart from one at Crabley Creek. The level crossing now has a Bombardier ‘EBI Gate 2000’ system in use at it with four bespoke manufactured barriers and a loud PA-based alarm system, the two units of which are located on the side of the road closest to the station. There’s a total of 5 LED wigwags (road traffic lights) in total here, all of which have long shades for the red lights only. There used to be barriers and alarms but no wigwags here, but that set-up went when the signal box closed. The signal box has been left for the purpose of trackside workers.

A total of six full lowerings and one additional train have been featured in this video, all filmed within 45 minutes of each other around sunset. Various passenger traffic is seen using this busy line, rounded off at the end with a pair of Class 37s on Railhead Treatment Train (RHTT) duties. I saw a few examples of this working whilst up this way.

This video is in 4K. However, some of the videos within it were filmed in a lower resolution due to running out of storage (lowerings 4,5, and 6 were filmed in Full HD 1080p).

Thanks for watching!
