A restaurant in New York is giving new life to an old invention. Brooklyn Dumpling Shop is bringing back the automat. They were vending machines of sorts that would take up entire walls of restaurants. Customers put in their coins, opened a door and pulled out their food. This new version doesnβt take coins. Your order is placed and paid for on your smartphone. A text notifies you when itβs ready. Inside Edition Digitalβs Mara Montalbano has more.

I love your videos β€
Meh
I love this. Only thing is that more people will be out of jobs. Yet I guess itβs evolution?
Gotta love technology
It doesnβt have to be perfect
Since nothing is made until an order comes in, it cuts down on food waste too.
Pretty much every fast food restaurant has prepared the food or parts of the food (meat, fries, etc.) before a customer has ordered it. But most food was thrown out after it sat for a certain amount of time (despite being on a hot plate/container/holder).
Itβs been a couple years, but it was usually 20 minutes. When I worked in a deli, hot food items were tossed after four hours.
Very efficient.
Great Idea. What's Old is new again!
No job more robots
Love it. Bring it to Cali. Itβll stop all the thefts too
This is not good for American unemployment.

I lovw this idea, but maybe with an eclectic menu, so there is a more to choose from.
I donβt think he understands why we like it lol. We donβt have to talk to people
Doesn't this already exist at Little Ceasars?? Go order a pizza and you can pick them up from their Pizza Portal.
Cool..
We use to have that back in the days the only thing now is the phone
That's cool π
Is anyone else frustrated with seeing tip jars everywhere and being prompted for tips during credit card transactions??? And when in the hell did standard tipping go from 15% to 20%? US tipping culture needs to change.
The Staten Island franchise has been converted to a burger joint, but they will use the kitchen as a "ghost kitchen" to make dumplings, which can be ordered online for pickup.
There's a reason why this fad died!
So the future is in the past.
A blast form the past returns to the future
Looks like Dark City. They're preparing to take us to a city in the middle of outer space for experiments.
It would be cool if it still took coins
Yessssss we need this ππππππΎtuning in from Harlem New York City I approve this new initiative
I've always wanted to go to an automat but was sure there weren't any left. This is cool to see! The only thing is, yes it's convenient, but only if you have a smartphone. I know it's hard to believe but not everyone has/can afford a smartphone and frankly those might be the people that could use the food the most.
I wanna try it
I hope this takes off in America and kills the ridiculous tipping culture
China has been doing this for years lol
This isn't new, there was one in the village in the mid 2000s. It was coin operated. How about you report on that one as well?
Everything old is New again!π₯£πππ²
There a price to paid fir that technology !
NO more family conversation no more ….. all phone ! Sad π’
Japanese one more cooler
