Broken down on the highway with a loaded semi

This is definitely not the most fun I’ve had trucking corn. Come along for the ride as I get towed off the shoulder of the highway by the biggest tow truck I’ve ever seen. Also, I try to use my new stock dog, Ruby, to load a bull into a trailer and it’s the beginning of maple syrup season!

  1. You guys are still having winter. Here where I live in NC the maples are blooming, the daffodils are blooming, the willow trees have pale green cascades, and the forsythias are beginning to bloom and most of the flowering shrubs have very fat buds.
Punxatawny Phil shouldn't try to predict the entire country's arrival of spring. It's a no win situation.

  2. Yesterday we visited a friend in town that has a custom built sugar shack. He taps 75 or more trees. In the shack, he has a huge stove made out of two oil tanks fashioned to burn pallet wood. Next to the shack, he had an insulated bin packed with snow to keep 10-32 gallon garbage cans of sap ready to boil off. For him is is a fun diversion.
In a season he does many gallons of syrup but gives most of it away because he does not want to deal with state and county regulators.
