Broken Arrows: Cold War’s Accident’s Abroad | SLICE HISTORY | FULL DOCUMENTARY

1960, the Cold War, now stretched far beyond the frontiers of the United States, became a source of public fear rather than reassurance. An unknown number of bombers armed with nuclear missiles is on continuous airborne alert in order to have a strike force less than two hours from targets in the USSR. The nuclear accidents keep happening, in Thule (Greenland) and Palomares (Spain), they have both left indelible marks on the areas they affected, despite great efforts to keep them secret. These two particularly sensitive nuclear accidents overseas shook the American public’s trust to the core.
