My suggested nickname: The Dark Force
Mach 6 is 4100 mph. If I remember correctly, SR71 was capable of 3,000 mph and the next fastest aircraft was about 75% of that speed. The only thing that was faster than the SR71 was a surface to air or air to air missile. The issue was by, the time you fired the missile, the aircraft was far enough away that the missile would run out of propellant.

Yeah and China and Russia think that they are the dominants they have no idea what we have. I mean there was an incident where we had to give up our spy plane to stop a war that Russia was getting ready to start. Because Russia had it in their mind that a country was getting ready to attack them. But we all know that was Russia trying to justify invading another country
That would be ridiculous using a passenger jet that is that fast are we all going to have to wear space suits

US military doesn’t retire anything without a better replacement. Seeing that the SR-71 was retired a long time ago, the SR-72 has been operational before that occurred.

Yeah, this video is more than half BS, at least as far as names & actuality. No way that the reality is going to end up looking like Top Gun Maverick, or the CGI.

The SR-71's top speed is listed at MACH 3.2. It's true top speed is still considered Top Secret. Which leads me to believe before they use planes that can flay at or faster than the SR-71. They need weapons that will fly faster so they don't shoot themselves down.
Hypersonic is anything above Mach 5. Every country is working on hypersonic missiles.
The hypersonic barrier is due to the change in how objects interact with air, creating temperature issues that require big tech leaps. The air molecules start to dissociate and ionize because of the temperatures.
Side effects abound. .
One worry is that hypersonic missiles would be what is chasing this plane.
Commercial planes can fly as fast as you like. But the bureaucracy of getting out of one airport and into the next might accelerate to keep up, making the trip to London still 7 hrs. 🙂

In the 1970s, my husband worked on the camera gyroscope for the Blackbird that kept the cameras level as it bounced around in turbulence. He was stationed in the Tonken Bay on the aircraft carrier for consultation and repairs on the Blackbird. Only five years ago, these gyroscope photos and blueprints were released by the military. That's almost 50 years of top secret material being stored for possible updates. We probably have more plane prototypes that were not developed in the back of hangers somewhere. The US is certainly a military industrial complex.

What they don't tell you is the SR-71, then known as the AA-12 and it was operated by the CIA for ten years before the public was made aware of it in 1971 and the name SR-71 was given for it. It was supposed to be the RS-71 but the President misspoke, and the name stuck. If this speed impresses you, keep in mind the space shuttle went for sitting on the launch pad to MACH 24 in 8 minutes after launch. So, the know-how for plane like the SR-72 has been known for decades. And they aren't going to tell you anything specific about this planes spec or capabilities.
Mach 6 is like 3600 mph,thats fast!!!
