Kabir most soldiers had their mess kits with them so if there was a hot meal they could get some. The most common cooking vessel was the helmet – perfect for soups, stews, and frying things in. There's a movie called Battleground that illustrates it. They'd cook over a small fire, sometimes underground.

Kabir been watching your vids for months or maybe a year or two idk. Not tryna hate, Ik you didn’t mean it out of malice & neither did I in my comment. But yeah that city is 1000000% warzone at that point, the only reason a civilian would be there? Is if they had a death wish, or the Germans forced them to be there
Also always keep In mind, ALL the major powers in ww2 committed war crimes, some WAY more than others but everyone’s hands were dirty. Still the same way today, we all need to try to do better, no matter where your from. Also would enlist immediately if anybody attacked the UK, don’t mess w them. To me the UK isn’t apart of America obviously but they’re one of, if not our best ally besides maybe Canada. 5:26 I worked with a Modern Day Jake when I was in the USMC… I was the Robin to his Batman, and never could have gotten away with the stuff he did lol 😆
But, like you said, dude was just so good at being a Marine, that nobody cared. Like, it was obvious he knew all the rules and regulations better than anybody else, but… He didn’t have time for all that crap.
It was generally small things like Walking and Eating at the same time in Uniform… Outside… without a Cover on… while a Lt. salute's him with a confused look on his face as the Screeching of Eagles can be heard off in the distance and the Marine Corps Hymn starts to play… as we keep walking.
They did the 136 miles in four days.
Just a short time prior to this they had completed a 600 man march in full combat load, 115 miles in 31 hours.
I once had to walk 5 miles to the house and back to carry tools out when my truck broke down. Another time just a couple miles carrying a pair of car batteries.
I still can't imagine what it took for them to make those numbers.

We should take better care of fallen soldiers families but the military isn’t ab monetary compensation, it’s ab serving your country & some unfortunately give the ultimate sacrifice, yet again, your family should be honored & be taken care of if that happens tho. ALL the $ we’ve given in foreign aid recently is good but I’d argue it should have gone to American families for example. Or protecting schools, you can’t help others if you don’t take care of yourself & America is doing a bad job of taking care of itself rn, like we’ve got the military which is THE most important thing, the end all be all, no one on earth can mess w the US unless Russia decides to go full nuclear war but we need to take care of our mental health for lack of a better term & get back to helping America & we’ll give Allie’s, any extra we can spare

As a paratrooper from the 82nd airborne I can confirm what he said is true.
Also I agree with everyone else about cutting up the videos/ending them too early. I highly recommend the proportional video.

You destroyed this whole video/reaction by cutting off the end and missing Jake McNasty McNiece talking about his fight with the MP's. Have to give you a thumbs down because there is no excuse for cutting off a video early and doing so is disrespectful to the original uploader of the video.

Yeah, most military units can't function and do their job properly with people like this in them. The military can and occasionally does find ways to use guys like this, but it's extra work finding (or sometimes creating) the right unit to put them in and the right role to assign them.
136 miles is a long walk, yes. That's five marathons back to back. The world record time for a marathon is over two hours, and that is an absolutely exhausting pace, so doing it five times back to back (which would let you cover the 136 miles in a bit over ten hours) is probably impossible; in practice it's going to take considerably longer. And that's without the fifty pounds or so of additional gear that you carry on a ruckmarch. Finishing it within one 24-hour day might theoretically be possible but it would be an incredibly long and exhausting day, even for a world-class athlete in peak condition.
The army food in WWII, was probably not the best cuisine that the country has ever had to offer, for any country that participated in the war. Somehow I don't think the Brits were serving the troops beef wellington on a regular basis. Although the food was probably better than what the Royal Navy served on board ship during the age of sail. So there's that.
The higher-ups had probably been informed that the plane carrying the Filthy Thirteen hadn't made it to the target drop zone, at which point they probably marked the mission as failed.

Also, don't cut his videos. The ads and closing are usually worth the watch. Plus, there's often footage included at the very end.
Edit: your comment at the very end about how if Jake hadn't been in the military, the world could be a very different place. It absolutely would be a very different place, today. The story from Holland, while keeping the continuity of the story, was just him showing off. That aside, Jake was the lynchpin for most of the Allied forces efforts being successful. What would have happened at the bridge if Jake and his men hadn't disobeyed a direct order? That kind of No Fucks Given was necessary. Once he was on the ground, he was able to immediately find the winning play, and he was going to see it done, even if he was ordered not to. And he had earned the loyalty and trust he had from the men following him. Higher up, the commanding officers weren't the ones getting shot at, so they did not have the respect or trust of the enlisted men. Even in a formal military command structure, trust is key. That's what makes a military strong.
When my dad was in the Navy, his captain would tell the new officers and other people who went on his sub, 'Ok, when ti comes to (my dad and his group) don't touch them, don't talk to them unless you need to. And if they do anything stupid, ignore it or tell me." yeah…..there are some people who either 'do not exist', or are 'myths'…..my dad is both….
I saw it mentioned that the reason Jake could pull of the ruck march without a sock change or blisters was because he had gone barefoot most of his life and the soles of his feet were nothing but callous. That certainly explains it.

Still lots of those families around here Dude. Still plenty with 6-9 kids…. But we're all farming families. Grow it & raise it .. sell it or eat it!
So much easier to do when 85% of your food comes from the land you live on or the rivers & forests around you 😉
Just fish alone i just put another 1000 3-5 inch trout in my pond this spring. $1.50 each.. once matured each one will feed 3-4 at my dinner table. From "Caught to Cooked" in 20 minutes total. It doesn't get any more fresh than that; nor nutrition.
They are fed on natural insects each night drawn in by low hanging LED bulbs over the water & 100% natural ground & meal worm pellets (pure natural protein)
I have a deal with my neighbours (2) .. I trade trout & poultry & eggs for Beef on one side and Pork on the other side; plus we regularly trade off excess vegetables & fruit.
I purchased 12 Hybrid Trees that started producing last year.. each tree produces 5 different fruit (Mac & Golden apples, Bartlett Pears, Red Plums, Black Cherries)
Add in my wild caught proteins (Moose, Deer & variety of fish) You can certainly keep a family fed quite cheaply & easily! Go out for 6 Sea Bass and put 170-200 Lbs of incredible White Fish in the freezer.. Myself, wife and a kid.. allowed 2 each.
The problem with the world today is everybody moving into concrete jungles and rely on PURCHASING everything. Get off the beaten path and get some land at the same price or cheaper… And really LIVE free; on the earth that God granted us to prosper on.

People often forget that a lot of the ”British food sucks” opinions that came back home with our soldiers of that time—is because they were sent there and were experiencing the “local English cuisine” after the UK had already been under heavy rationing, for multiple years.
Most people/places/military stations literally didn’t HAVE the spices and ingredients that they typically use—available to them (or not in the quantities they needed).

Lol I actually got assigned to my own platoon in my Reserves Marine Military Police company after coming in late and apparently other issues lol the shitbird platoon. Lol I also had a bit of an attitude problem

Jake grew up dirt poor. He likely went barefoot most of the time. Even when hunting. His feet were hardened by life. That's my guess how he made that march without a blister.
Who could play Jake McNasty? Lee Marvin. Pretty sure his role (Major Reisman) in the Dirty Dozen was based on Jake McNiece.

I know someone that was in the 82nd Airborne. He did 1 tour of duty in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. Although the last one wasn't with an Airborne unit. Said he didn't want to see his friends get hurt from jumping anymore. He was taken care of after his service. Better then most. Uncle Sam understands, higher risk jobs come with extra benefits.
