He eventually became a respected TV correspondent as well. He kept an eye on the White House and let the world know what was happening during elections. Having such a successful career made it seem like he had a perfect life. He was earning awards left and right. Every time he retired from one program, he found another to join. His legacy

Brit’s wife had her own issues to deal with. She came from an alcoholic family and had to overcome her addiction. Reading the Bible and committing to God helped her through the process. Then, the family was faced with an even bigger tragedy. It was the kind of event that can shake a family and ruin it forever. Their son Sandy took his own life. He shot himself after getting released from jail. Brit got a call with the news and was overcome with grief.

He didn’t expect to receive any messages because political commentators blended into the background. Despite that, he received endless letters of sympathy. He’s very thankful for them, but they only provided minimal healing. He needed something else to rely on. A strong faith was the only way for the family to get back on their feet again. Brit recommitted himself to Christ. He started a Bible study group with his colleagues. They made something positive out of the tragedy.

  1. My story is somewhat similar to Brit's. My son died in a car accident at age 23. The Lord was the only thing that brought me through that. My daughter has an alcohol problem. I never knew the power of that addiction. I have much more sympathy for people who are overpowered by it. Again, I turned to the Lord for help. He is faithful.

  2. I had no idea. Ive always enjoyed listening to Brits take on basically anything – always felt he was the real deal. I cant even imagine losing my son and my heart goes out to him for what had to be a heartbreaking loss.

  3. Sandy Hume (Brit's son) was allegedly having an affair with married Congressman Bill Paxon (R.NY). When the House Majority Leader, closeted Dick Armey, threatened to out them, Sandy committed suicide. Brit has managed to erase almost all evidence of his son's history from the internet.

  4. I always felt Britt could be trusted to DELIVER the news, plain & simple. Straight foreward, no fireworks or sensationalism. His balanced, deep voice gave me trust in what he said. A real credit to his profession. God is with us always. Ask & he will answer. It is good Britt asked & was answered.

  5. I watched this because I have watched Brti Hume forever. I had no idea he lost his son. I lost my daughter at 24. It destroyed my life with grief as it did with him. I haven't yet developed a similar religious connection but many others have been helped by God and Christ after living through similar similar crises.
