On the topic of people who disagree with your magic opinions making you out to be a bad person outside of the game, it really feels like that's just the internet in general these days. If someone dislikes your opinion they'll clutch at every straw and jump to every conclusion to try and turn you into this comic book supervillain of pure evil
Funny thing about competative magic dying off, WIzards keeps pushing Commander so hard they push people off competitive telling people they can play a true non rotating format like commander very cheap or play other formats which are all non rotating and expensive.
