Boris Johnson: Former UK prime minister quits as MP over Partygate report – BBC News

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to step down as an MP with immediate effect after receiving the Partygate report.

That report by the MP-led Privileges Committee looked into whether he misled Parliament over lockdown-breaking parties at Downing Street.

His statement said: “They have still not produced a shred of evidence that I knowingly or recklessly misled the Commons.”

  3. What is so extraordinary is that Boris Johnson had these Covid rules breaking parties in Downing Street when he had almost died from Covid himself. What on Earth was the man thinking? He could have been a great Prime Minister if he had not immersed himself in sleaze, scandal and lies. He has nobody to blame but himself.

  4. I am the last person to come to the defence of Boris Johnson, but we are losing sight of the fact that the good old British people voted for him in the first place. Those that did, chose to ignore his track record for telling the truth, so they must shoulder some responsibility for what has happened!

Was it that they just wanted 'Brexit' done? If so, another big mistake, because they were lied to and taken in! There are no sunny uplands Brexit was nothing more than an act of self harm!

At the end of the day as voters, we have to get real! It is down to us to make sound judgements, and if we make bad ones, we get no more than we deserve!
