The communications director at Blanchet House has written a children’s book to make the topic of homelessness easier to understand through the eyes of Toby the cat.

  1. Toby was doing okay until he fell in with the wrong crowd and started doing drugs. He lost interest in everything else and started stealing to support his habit and finally had to be turned out. The story doesn't dwell on those details but rather focus on how he was saved by the homeless industrial complex at tremendous taxpayer and society cost (those details are also not disclosed). In the end, Toby is still a druggie but enjoying his nonproductive life at the expense of others who feel good about themselves now even though their future selves and their children will suffer as a consequence.
