At least two people died as a result of the “bomb cyclone” that ripped through western Washington Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Hundreds of thousands of customers were still without power Wednesday and some were expected to be in the dark for “multiple days.”
Harborview Medical Center told KOMO News Wednesday morning at least five people are in the hospital with injuries related to the storm. One of those people was in critical condition.
The storm has had a major impact on western Washington, causing significant power outages and blocking roads. A spokesperson for the city of Seattle told KOMO News Wednesday morning that 20 to 30 trees were down, and crews were “working to address any debris impacting roadways and transportation.”
The city of Seattle said around 114,000 Seattle City Light customers were without power at the peak of the outages Tuesday night, which is the largest number of customers without power since the 2006 Hanukkah Eve storm.

Refrigerator and power outage tip: Before the next power outage, take 2 gallon bottles of water, fill them just below full, and put them in your freezer. When you have a power outage, transfer the gallon bottles down below into your refrigerator section. You can go for several days this way if you don't open the fridge too much. You could also put those in a super large cooler.
