Bodycam Shows Michigan Cop Shooting Patrick Lyoya in Back of Head

Bodycam video was released earlier this week of the moments leading up to the death of 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya, who was killed after a Grand Rapids, Michigan, police officer shot him in the back of the head. The shooting occurred after the officer pulled Lyoya over because the license plates on the car he was in were not registered to that vehicle. After Lyoya started to walk away from the car, the cop grabbed him and a struggle ensued. Lyoya was face down on the ground, with the officer on his back, when the cop shot him.

  1. I know I am 4 months late but this guy is the one at fault for running away and fighting the officer. In any case it was his fault this all happened and it does seem like the officer misfired and instead tried shooting somewhere else that would only harm the criminal.

  2. All of you defending the cop would be singing a different tune if it was your son, father, brother etc. Again, it is not a death sentence to resist arrest or run from police. It is the job of the police officer to arrest you and let the courts and laws decide your punishment.

  4. This fool was obviously resisting arrest. Then he overcame the officer's use of the taser. Now the officer cannot hit the suspect, cannot choke the suspect, cannot kick the suspect, so what is his next option to prevent the suspect from going for his gun? Just asking a question.
