Pineville, North Carolina — On May 14, 2024, at 3:10 p.m., The Pineville Police Department (PPD) received a shoplifting call for service from the Food Lion at 10120 Johnston Road. PPD Sergeant Adam Roberts, who was in uniform, working off-duty at the nearby McMullen Creek Shopping Center, informed dispatch he would respond to the call. He drove to the parking lot of the Food Lion where he saw the suspect, 46-year-old Dennis Bodden, walking towards Johnston Road holding a bag containing various grocery items. Bodden was very well known to Pineville Police as being a chronic shoplifting suspect at this Food Lion and having violent tendencies towards police and the public.
In addition, Bodden had two outstanding felony breaking and entering warrants and felony larceny after breaking and entering warrants from this same Food Lion on Johnston Road. Bodden was contacted by Sgt. Roberts in the upper parking lot of Food Lion where Bodden ignored and refused verbal and lawful orders to stop. Bodden refused to follow these lawful orders and continued walking away from the sergeant. Sgt. Roberts continued to follow Bodden across Johnston Road while requesting back-up officers to assist. Bodden became physically confrontational with Sgt. Roberts and less lethal force was used in a Taser deployment by the Sergeant. Less lethal was not effective on Bodden as he continued to walk away from Sgt. Roberts and go towards Cedar Circle Drive.
Bodden and Sergeant Roberts then briefly reengaged in a struggle, while Officer Down ran toward the two of them. Bodden then charged toward Officer Down, who unsuccessfully attempted to deploy his Taser on Bodden. Bodden and Officer Down momentarily engaged physically, before Bodden was able to grab the cord to Officer Down’s radio, ultimately pulling Officer Downs’ radio away from his body. At one point, the cord from Officer Downs’ radio was fully extended while within the grasp of Bodden. During this struggle between Bodden and Officer Down, Sergeant Roberts drew his firearm. Bodden, seeing Sergeant Roberts draw his weapon, stepped towards Sergeant Roberts and appeared to reach for the gun as Sergeant Roberts pulled it away. Officer Down screamed, presumably at Sergeant Roberts, “Get him! Get him!” just before Sergeant Roberts fired his weapon three times, striking Bodden.
After Sergeant Roberts fired the last shot, Officer Down screamed once more, “Get him!” Bodden walked a short distance before falling to the ground. As Sergeant Roberts and Officer Down placed Bodden in handcuffs, Sergeant Roberts’ body-worn camera recorded him stating, “I didn’t want him to hit you, get you. He’s already bit me real bad.” Officers use a knife to cut off his raincoat to find the wounds for treatment. Bodden eventually appears to become non-responsive as additional first responders arrive. In early July, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced it would not file criminal charges in Bodden’s shooting. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office deemed the shooting a justified use of force, noting that the footage appeared to show Bodden reaching for the sergeant’s gun during the fight. The officer involved is back to full duty.

2:30 – Remember everyone if you ignore an officer long enough, your notoriety level goes down to zero and the cops forget about you. Try it next time!
this man just wanted some food prices are out of control killed a man for trying to eat smfh the guy not saying a word
Hard to see what's going on since the officer's arm keeps obscuring the camera.
Alot of officer safety issues there, you can tell that Sgt hasn't dealt with anything like this before.
What happens when you let felons out of their cage
No joke, the perp was at one time a biochemist and a state attorney for new york.
i don't think the shooting was necessary and that cop would not make it in the inner city. he couldn't take down one guy? really?
Officer, you let him walk into a more populated area while failure to tase him in a better place. Then you go hands on, get bitten, and eventually let him get hands on you again. You need to find another job.
this dude def had mental health problems. i honestly feel bad for him he couldnt receive the help he clearly needed.
Stupid
A little bit this usa police
Liberal Hell Scapes.
Cheeky bastard just walking off like that. Probably stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of gear over time. Glad he wasnt carrying a blade.
What a moron
Imagine going through life with no rules or moral code.
Cop needs jail
😂😂😂 took the fight right outta him
What gun where?
see in my opinion most police officers arent fight trained and resort to needless shootings I think its a major flaw in the police force
$AMC 🚀🍻
During my career as a cop, I enjoyed encounters with big tough guys, like Zombie, who is 6’5” and 225#. Since I’m 6’9” and 250#, I didn’t have to hold back too much, when he resists arrest, which big guys always do. Zombie would be in custody, we would both have a nice little workout, and he wouldn’t get shot. If you don’t like to fight, you shouldn’t be a cop, IMHO.
6:45 zombie
As soon as they said 6’5 220/230 the first cop should have waited for backup. And both of them could have put him in handcuffs.
this guy must have lived in a world where he was invincible. he thought he was so scary and indestructible until a couple bullets to the gut made him drop. weak, so much for street cred. he was a weakling.
Black and Blue
How the F he walking away after taking 3 to the chest??
Imagine killing someone over a bag of groceries. What the fuck?
The new resident evil game looks sick😂
This channel has taught me most cops are complete cowards who are too scared to properly do their job and will push along a situation for so long it ends up with shooting someone. Its a weird common occurrence on this channel. No other countries outside of America and Canada do this, I wonder why?
Dude was on a mission
It's sad that it's the same suspects ⚫🤷♂️
Never understood why people would throw their life away like this
Easy to say from a distance, but seems insane this clown was given a chance to attack two officers after already taking a bite out of one. Impossible to fathom how this guy managed to survive 46 years. Policing is becoming impossible.
WHY DO WE KEEP LOSING OUR KINGS LIKE THIS???!??!?!?!
I didn’t think that guy ever realized it was a police
Crazy
and lets him keep walking, good lord
These people never listen
Mental health issues are a bitch
Strange. He cared enough about his own well-being to put on a raincoat to stay dry, but not enough to comply with the officers and avoid being shot and ultimately die.
the worst thing America ever did was bring black people here
The Worst Thing
Sorry but this officer is about as authoritative as a pet Gerbil 😆
And doesn’t know how to fight like most officers… 🤦🏾♂️
Another entitlement reparation deal. Ok. Someday lessons will be learned
Dude ain’t makin it home today. Yeah. We’re all broke brother. Your entitlement is no more relevant than anyone else’s. Appreciate your confidence in trying to get home. But ya did drop stolen food and ya kinda face planted RIP sir. Hope you’ve acquired peace
He doesnt even conceal it. He literally just fills up a bag and walks out with it.
Totally Justified… tons of time to comply.
Most useless cop ever
"Gut check"😆
african american 🤣 asian american.. 😂 everyone is american wanna be 🤣🤣🤣
meanwhile… U.S citizens are 🤔
