Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has a rich history that dates back to its founding in the 1960s. Here’s an overview of NCL’s evolution:
Norwegian Cruise Line was founded in 1966 by Knut Kloster and Ted Arison under the name “Norwegian Caribbean Line.” It started with a single ship, the **MS Sunward**, offering cruises from Miami to the Caribbean. The concept of year-round Caribbean cruising was innovative and laid the foundation for modern cruising.
In the 1970s and 1980s, NCL expanded its fleet with new vessels like the **MS Starward** and **MS Southward**. The company was one of the pioneers in developing “fly-cruise” packages, where passengers could fly to Miami and immediately embark on a cruise.
– **New Ships and Fleet Growth**: NCL continued to grow with the introduction of new, larger ships like the **Norwegian Star** and **Norwegian Dawn** in the early 2000s. The company also added innovative features like bowling alleys and water slides to appeal to a broader market.
– **The Breakaway and Breakaway-Plus Class**: In the 2010s, NCL launched its Breakaway-Class ships (Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway), followed by the larger Breakaway-Plus Class (Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Joy, and Norwegian Bliss). These ships introduced more dining venues, activities, and entertainment options, including the first-at-sea go-kart track.
Today, Norwegian Cruise Line is one of the largest and most recognized cruise brands globally, known for its laid-back atmosphere, diverse itineraries, and broad appeal to different types of travelers.

Incredible stunning beautiful tour👌👌👌👌👌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love this, you guys do such an amazing job! I have been on carnival a million years ago and 4 Hollander America cruises, gotta say I really enjoy holland’s cabins, and the mid size ships the most, service has always been great, we were thinking about trying a different cruise line to maybe Panama Canal or Hawaii, so far I think I found holland America has the best overall price, BTW I have gone out of Vancouver, it was a 3 and 1/2 hour nightmare, Seattle 3 time has been a breeze, 20-30 minutes tops to get from the front doors to being on board. Thank you for the great info!!!! Dena
Awesome tour! Wow that cruise looks like a lot of fun 😁Cheers 🍻 👏 🎉

So awesome, you two are great at making cruise videos! I see the check-in process was quick and organized. You are in for such a fabulous time in the Caribbean!🌴🌴🚢🚢 Love the Stardust Lounge, looks really comfy. Interesting to see one of the older smaller ships with remodelled style, looks really nice. 👍👍👍Great tips about where to pick your room location.
Wow, this cruise ship is beautiful. So many nice areas that hangout and looks like a very fun vibe to it. Looking forward to seeing more of your cruise!
