Tom Vasel talks about a game from 40 years ago. Tom highlights a shelf from the Dice Tower Library. Plus, a plethora of segments from our great contributors! Episode #459.
This episode is brought to you by Pandasaurus: Orichalcum, co-designed by Bruno Cathala, is a tense and fast-pace strategy game – similar to a short 4X. Must be nice to have employees to help you move 🙂
30:38 – Where is Paris: La Cite De Lumiere on that “Paris” shelf? 😊
Freaks and Geeks, and, surprisingly, the Chucky TV series does a decent job of representing kids in high school. Especially since the actors in Chucky ARE actually 15 and 16 years old.
In Marvel Remix, you also need a hero or ally along with a villain, and I am pretty sure it's 10 cards on the table ends the game, not 7
I have to take umbrage at the Madeira comment. I think it is pretty well established that What's Your Game games are not your games, but for those of us that do, they are not all the same. Madeira is one that is a bit harder to wrap your head around the parts of this one, but it is worth the effort.
That said, Gugong would be my choice for the best game on the shelf.
Airlines Europe, sounds like the 3 of you found a game to play together on the Explorer. Have fun everybody who is going! Hoping to join again in a couple years.
Just when I thought I coulnd't like Chris more, he starts to talk about RedLetterMedia.
7:13 is where Tom briefly lost his mind
You have to place Wednesday in context of her universe where all of that Macabre stuff is the Schtick.
Wednesday Spoilers! @41:50 😂
Awwww cute ugly Christmas sweater! @44:32
LOL @48:11 I wish I could see a tiger mom’s reaction
After the Jenga segment, the white balance changed. I've mentioned this before that it's too cool and there's a green tint. Everything through Jenga looks ok (still wrong but not bad) but the segment following the Jenga one and all the ones after are green. All you need is a gray card and use the custom white balance setting. Thanks for all the content.
I enjoy puzzles but those jigsaw skills from 11:00 in the video just blow me away.
I like the new segment with Board Game Dave! Idea for next time: new gamers often ask me what "drafting" means, and it's used in so many games.
26:05 wow great content from Boardgame Dave! Welcome to the show 👍
The answer to "what is a kids game" to me is this:
Can it be played by children without any adult assistance?
Can it be taught by a child without them forgetting the rules?
If yes to both, it's a kids game. Yummy yummy monster tummy is a kids game.
Does it require a fair bit of reading?
Does it require a parent to teach the rules and oversee the play, or even participate?
If yes, it's a family game. Kids Chronicles:Quest for the moonstone is a family game.
Is Nova Luna out of print in the US? I see it in game stores all over the place, in English, so don’t spend too much on a copy. 🙂
Looked at your kickstarter. Where's the Rutabaga promo for Abandon All Artichokes? As a Swede 😉 I'm disappointed 🙂
@boardgamedave is easily one of favorite follows on Instagram and YouTube. His videos are very polished and his lighting and audio are excellent.
I really like Board Game Dave! And I totally agree about My Lil Everdell.
Junka = Red Letter Media reference! Well done Chris!!
Have you guys never seen the Addams family? All that stuff you were saying is weird about Wednesday is kind of the schtick of the entire universe. Like, murdering kids with piranhas? That is 200% something Wednesday would do.
