I’ll tell you Disney has gone nuts I live on a fixed income from being disabled we can no longer afford to go to Disney. It would take for a family of four my whole monthly disability check for one day it’s an outrage. It cost so much to get in when you look at Disney’s profits we’d love to go to Disney, but I can no longer afford it
WOW AMAZING WORK Thanks for spending my tax dollars for this stupid law suit
Thank you WDW News, for maintaining a straightforward, unbiased position when you report current events. I just want to hear the news and make decisions for myself; I don't need to be instructed what to think about it.
Any money spent fighting corporate overreach is money well spent. Otherwise, all you're admitting is that democracy is for sale to the highest bidder.
Disney will be paying all of the court costs when this is all over.
i hope they rake desantis thru the coals
So now we’ve gone from a respected Board (Reedy Creek) to another GOP clown car (CFTOD)? Unbelievable. This is why Disney will not spend any of that $60B in Florida until the clowns have left the building.
Deleted my original comment. This is purely a news site, so any and all opinions as to who is right and wrong is for the upper and possibly Supreme courts to decide.
I still hope either Kevin Mayer or Tom Staggs are "anti-woke" enough to replace "woke" Bob Iger!
So, the “Central Florida Tourism Oversight District” plans to spend ALMOST as much next year on lawyers as Disney plans to spend next year on Worldwide Parks and Experiences. 😔
If Disney sells ABC I'm gonna be so sad.
Image if they spent 4.5Million to fix the rides so that they don’t break down.
where in the world is Tom Cordless
How do we know who is right to take over Walts Company.
How I hate desantis. He wants to be president, but spends so much time and money fighting a theme park! We cannot allow this creep to get any closer to power. He is destroying Florida, let's not let him take a crack at the other 49 states.
$100 says they will miraculously pick their friends and family to represent them. Hmmm
Disney has already shut down channels in the UK in favour of Disney+, so selling at least some of it's US channels wouldn't surprise me.
There has been a summary judgment already they are gonna loose in court, it’s Florida state law and has been that way for decades, don’t b surprised if they have to convert public bonds to private, and have to pay interest, see villages for example, it’s state laws they have broken
Why do you think people care about DiSantis and Iger? I think we need to find a new way to find out about Disney.
At this point it would be less insulting to give spend 4.5 million dollars on giving the reedy creek cast (?) universal annual passes.
I'm so confused. I thought the Disney lawyers made it impossible for the new board to operate. What happened to the "last heir of King Charles" thing?? And where is this 4.5 million dollars coming from? This is soooo un-American. This is a crime against capitalism. A crime against freedom of speech and private business.
The Governor and Iger should do something about cars leaving I4 during traffic jams and cutting thru Disney.
Despite the fact that I disagree with many of Disney's political beliefs, the fact remains that the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board is essentially breaking the rule of "no taxation without representation." Disney is the primary taxpayer and property owner within the district, and yet has no say on how the district is run, since the board is basically hand-picked by the Florida Governor. As a former Disney Cast Member and Guest, I know first-hand that the people most harmed by these political machinations are cast members and guests. This whole situation is stupid and needs to stop. Disney needs to be able to elect some of the people to the board, and the board needs to stop suing Disney and start spending the money on actual improvements to the district. Just because I don't agree with Disney on everything doesn't mean they should be punished for exercising their right to free speech.
Central Florida Tourism Oversight District should be served by the Residents of Florida for Wasting Time and Money
Primary does NOT mean ONLY. There are other taxpayers in the district.
Since Disney makes up 87% of the land, Disney is paying 87% of the fees for CFTOD. Also, Disney is the one who is for some reason dragging this out, which is plain stupid as the state has every right to shut down RCID. And no, it's not taxation without representation since the state officials are elected. With the Park Tickets, Disney was providing park ticket that only Cast Members can receive. RCID is not and never has been owned by Disney. RCID was a governmental agency that was breaking the law by providing those exclusive passes. You can't do that with a government agency. Not to mention, only 30% of the employees were using them, leaving the other 70% with nothing they wanted. With the current stipend, 100% of the employees can use it for the things they want, not just park passes.
Another thing is that the CFTOD got rid of DEI, which made it so the lowest bidding contractor who could do the job, got the job, instead of the wokest, which was mostly Disney, could overcharge and still get the contract awarded to them. Because of this change, many projects got their budgets slashes since the new contractors didn't overcharge. In fact, the entire district got its taxes reduced.
May need assistance lifting your wallet 😂
The DVC Anthem is new(ish), maybe about 2 years old, so I'm not surprised you were not aware there was one yet. 😄
