Folks, it’s my favorite of all Soulsborne games: Bloodborne.
It may not have had quite the effect on the industry that Dark Souls did, or sell as many copies as Elden Ring, but the tightness and speed of the combat mechanics; the deliciously dark setting; the stellar soundtrack; the complex and layered horror elements; the outstanding voice acting; and all the countless other smaller elements of Bloodborne’s brilliance add up to one of the greatest games of all time. Hope ya enjoy the vid.

Finally got to finish the video, spot on analysis/review – I wouldn't change a single thing. Thanks again my friend and don't mind me mentioning the Seeker of fire Dark Souls 2 mod again 🙂 cheers! Looking forward to your next video!
Ive got the hunters mark inked into my skin, so yeah here for this.
you really understated just how much of bloodborne the chalices truly are
if you only count the 10 preset chalices, even then it is like 50% of the game, not to mention the 3200 root chalices
there is no good reason for anyone to not like the chalices if they like playing bloodborne, because it is just as much bloodborne as anything else in the game and in fact it always was meant to be part of the core bloodborne experience
chalices are something that allow for a real endgame, and in many ways them alone are the longest from software game, because in many ways, they very well be their own game
when people say that "bloodborne is too short" i know they have no idea how the chalices are or that they exist at all
chalices are something truly special that can never be appreciated enough because thats just how much work was put into it, the amount of work, effort, love and care that went into them is so, so underappreciated by people its insane
the level of nuance that makes them work at all in any way is so complicated that no other game has anything like it (rougelike/lite games could be said similar, but none of them are not only this complex but none of them do it quite similar)
just to brush them off as "their repetitive nature can sadly cause the fun and novelty to wear off quicker than it would be ideal" or "the goal is the same" is so ignorant about what and how they are
I've always had motion control off on my PS and didn't even knew motion controlled gestures were a thing in Bloodborne until now. Just turn them of in the PS options menu and your golden.
Im also 30 now 😅
as soon as i heard him say the thing abt the doll i destroyed him on site every time i went back 💀
Just finished Bloodborne again on my PS5. Still my favorite game of all time and a true masterpiece. I played the Lies of P demo and ill be picking that up cause it slightly reminds me of Bloodborne.
I found The Paleblood Hunt by Redgrave to be pretty helpful in understanding Bloodborne's story and lore. It's a Google drive doc
The blunt damage only gems are fantastic as the Beast Cutter for example is pure blunt damage, as is the Boomhammer and Logarius Wheel.
Heavy and arcane scaling gems are also BiS for strength, quality, and arcane builds.
Elemental damage gems are required for Arcane, and the poison gems have a use case with the Logarius Wheel.
Lastly, thrust gems are quite powerful on the Church Pick, Stake Driver, and Rifle Spear.
That’s not even getting into the powerful set ups with stuff like striking, open foes, flat damage for the Logarius Wheel & Kos Parasite, kinhunter & beasthunter etc – the only useless gems I can think of are the stamina gems and sharp gems.
Also I was hoping you would’ve mentioned the varying modifiers on each weapons individual combo hits which leads you to prioritize reaching certain points in an attack string, something unique to BB so far. Each weapon also has a running R1-R2 and backstep R1-R2, with some of those attacks being incredibly powerful or fantastic combo openers. Fantastic video overall though!
I bounced off the first hour of Bloodborne four times before I finally watched a beginners guide to combat. After that, I bounced off at progressively deeper points. At some point it finally fully clicked for me. There’s no other game that that I so consistently enjoy playing. There are lots of games that I absolutely love, but if I play them long enough, I eventually get bored of them. The only game that I can play forever and never get bored is Bloodborne.
Regarding the layers of the nightmare, the nightmare of Mensis is actually the highest, not the frontier. You can see the mensis tower/castle from the frontier, high upon the distant mountains and you can see the frontier from some of the balconies in mensis.
Great work
I love bloodborne, but boss quality is so important to me in souls games that it's only tied with DS3 as my fav fromsoft games. Most of BB bosses are pretty bad and only Ludwig and orphan are amazing in my opinion.
I love hearing Scottish people talk about games I love. And if you're not Scottish then my bad
Just found your channel and I love the content
Also hoping for a fear and hunger essay after hearing the theme early on!
The lamps are annoying coming from other souls games. I'm a fromsoft noob started with elden ring. Just finished sekiro and now I'm working through bloodborne and loving it besides the slower loads on ps4. I choose the threaded cane. Might do a skill / bloodtinge build as I want to use the Chikage/ bloodletter if possible to use both. I'll have to look at Stat requirements. Loving the skill builds cuz I'm pretty good at parrying from elden ring. And doing big damage vicersals feels great.
The minute you start hearing the fear and hunger soundtrack in the video… I think you just accept the fact that you are officially a lunatic
Kos parasite can be used as an unarmed weapon without the milkweed rune if you put flat arcane gems on it! I used to have quite a good time confusing people with how my slaps could deal so much damage.
Motion gestures definitely can be turned off, I’m pretty sure it’s in the online portion of the menu or something like that.
I don't know you if you're aware of this (given you didn't mention it), but…. unique to Bloodborne is the fact we can summon Father Gascoigne to fight the Cleric Beast with us.
Doing my first playthrough now. Not super far in the game. I got sent to yahar'gul very early by fighting that sack weilding enemy right outside cathedral ward. Ended up in yahargul and nearly crapped myself. I was getting 1 or 2 shot by everything and the music and atmosphere was crazy. I found the latern and picked up a few cold bloods before dipping. Maybe an area I would explore early in later playthroughs but I felt super under leveled and like i shouldn't be there yet lol
Holy shit the amount of hour plus long videos of Bloodborne analysis I've watched is insane. Especially since I've beaten the game multiple times. Anytime i see a new video of someone else who loves this game, i have to watch it. I'll never get tired of hearing peoples opinion about this masterpiece. Even through this game isn't perfect, we can all agree that its worth the time and effort to play through at least once. Bloodborne forever.
Give it another 5-10 years and then you can call it a retrospective. This is a review.
New multi hour retrospective channel hello. Whens your 30 hour oblivion retrospective (I jest)
October is almost here!
Return to Yharnam 👻
Fear and hunger I hear?
1:46:17 ??? The route is super close. It only take 22 seconds to get to the boss fog.
