Blood Quantum REACTION – Zombie Movie With a Twist! (Spooky Movie Marathon)

Blood Quantum was such a wild ride! I will be honest I had no idea there was a term called Blood Quantum. A quick google search shows this “The idea of blood quantum was first introduced in 1705 by the Colony of Virginia, which adopted the “Indian Blood law.” This law was used to reduce the civil rights of Indigenous people with ½ or greater blood quantum.” I wish I knew this before I watched the movie it would have probably impacted me much more than it did. Even though I really enjoyed the film. But it makes more sense after knowing this term. It breaks my heart the more and more I find out about the atrocities and crimes committed and still committed against the Native America people.

  2. I've said it once and I'll say it again… I'm really digging the unorthodox set of movies you've watched so far. I liked the uniqueness and idea of blood quantum. But one thing that annoyed me personally, was that every female character was either spoilers killed, written off in some way, or just the obligatory pregnant woman in the apocalypse there to raise up the suspense.

  3. Oh what a wonderful surprise! I'm Chemehuevi and am so happy to see cool native entertainment get made, along with native actors. From this Prey, Reservation Dogs and hopefully more to come.

  4. If you're looking for more zombie movies I endorse the following two:
"Little Monsters" (2019) A wholesome romantic zombie comedy; and,
"The Girl With All The Gifts" (2016) Post-apocalyptic survival horror with fungal zombies.

  5. Oh wow I didn't think you'd see my comment. Great seeing you decided to watch it, can't wait to see your reaction.

edit: yeah this movie is a tragedy, but it is fantastically done. Rhymes for Young Ghouls is a horror (not that scary but to be honest blood quantum is more thriller than scares too) but has a much happier ending if you want to watch that. I also think its just better in general but that could just be me. its made by the same director, jeff barnaby, and also about Natives.
