BLONDE | Official Teaser | Netflix

Ana de Armas is Marilyn Monroe in Blonde, only on Netflix 9/23. From director Andrew Dominik, and based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde boldly reimagines the complicated life of icon Marilyn Monroe. Blurring the lines of fact and fiction, the film artfully explores the tension between her public and private life.

  1. ANA DE ARMAS TO PORTRAY MARILYN MONROE WITH CUBAN ACCENT, ACTRESS PREVIOUSLY CLAIMED TO HAVE SPENT “NINE MONTHS ” PERFECTING HOLLYWOOD ICON’S ’S VOICE

IF SHE HAD MASTERED MONROE’S ’S VOICE, DE ARMAS HAD ATTESTED, “I TRIED! IT ONLY TOOK ME NINE MONTHS OF DIALECT COACHING, AND PRACTISING, AND SOME ADR SESSIONS.”
“IT WAS A BIG TORTURE, SO EXHAUSTING,” SHE SAID OF THE EXPERIENCE. “MY BRAIN WAS FRIED, TRY TO REMEMBER SHE'S FEELING IN BIG BIG SHOES HERE TO FILL AND SHE WORKED HER BUTT OFF AND YES MAYBE A SLIGHT CUBAN ACCENT BUT THATS LIKE AMERICANS IF AMERICNAS HAD TO HAVE A DIFFERENT ACCENT TO PLAY A ROLE I BET A SLIGHT AMERICAN ACCENT WILL COME OUT IN ALL OF YOU THATS COMPLAINING ABOUT A SLIGHT CUBAN ACCENT THAT SHE PROBABLY CANT HELP 100% STILL A FENOMNAL AMAZING JOB JUST CHILLING TRAILER IN ITS SELF SO TRY TO GIVE HER SOME SLACK AND NOT BE SO HARSH SHES A FENOMNAL ACTRESS AND SO WAS MARILYN, LOVE THEM BOTH I THINK NOMATTER WHAT ITS GOING TO BE FENOMNAL

THAT EVERY SCENE IN BLONDE IS INSPIRED BY AN EXISTING PHOTOGRAPH.
“WE ’D PORE OVER EVERY DETAIL IN THE PHOTO AND DEBATE WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN IT. THE FIRST QUESTION WAS ALWAYS, ‘WHAT WAS NORMA JEANE FEELING HERE?’ WE WANTED TO TELL THE HUMAN SIDE OF HER STORY. FAME IS WHAT MADE MARILYN THE MOST VISIBLE PERSON IN THE WORLD, BUT IT ALSO MADE NORMA THE MOST INVISIBLE

THE ACTOR HAD TO UNDERGO THREE AND A HALF HOURS OF MAKEUP EVERY DAY.

  3. Dominik is a great filmmaker, but it’s gonna be hard for me to watch this and fully suspend disbelief because of her accent. I know she worked hard on it, but apparently not hard enough.

  4. It´s great to see how we finally have gotten over the race and cultural appropriation nonsense. This film shows how ANY actor can play ANY role if they´re good enough in their craft…

  5. I can’t be the only one that thinks her story is really similar to Miley Cyrus with the whole Hanna Montana persona. She said in multiple interviews she felt like she could only be Hanna in order to be liked, but she just wanted to be Miley.

Also off topic, that ending mirror scene reminds me of Black Swan and Perfect Blue. Both cinematic masterpieces.

  6. I love how Norma even though she is tired of playing as Marilyn in movies she still looks for her Marilyn persona to boost her up and comfort her and her persona acts as a friend telling her "everything will be fine I got your back"❤
