  1. I agree Daniel, I used to run all ally tipping trailers but we did mostly bulk tipper work on grain and sugar beet then the trailers only did a few months a year but we kept them on aggregates. Site clearance is a killer for alloy bodies ! Still ran a mixed fleet on the eight leggers just have to be careful how you allocate the work to each type of body!

  3. Shame the artics aren't working, but, you can throw as many "maybes " and "what ifs" as you want at it. The bottom line is, if it don't make money, it don't make sense. Free up the capital and put it to better use.

  4. It hurts me to point this out because I really like the content but those bathroom designs are bloody awful. Who would make you build something like that? I wonder who your clients are.

  5. Never really seen anyplace in SA that won't get some network connection, maybe a km or so on the roads but not much places to hide from MTN or Vodacom.

    Enjoy the visit

  6. Dan, I mean nothing by this, but your Transport Manager should be telling you this. If you are on rate per tonne as oppose to job rate or time and miles then trailer and unit weights are critical.
The other thing is that providing you have the class one drivers it is almost impossible not to make money in the haulage game at the moment. The money you have spent on those units maintaining them and looking after them generally and the time and love the drivers have spent on them mean you should get top dollar for them. I wish you all the luck in the world and you are a young man learning, but your team should be supporting you better.

  7. At my work we use CAT 793 Haul trucks with a different box on them. I think we can haul an extra 25 tons. They have a box mat to help protect the bottom from the Ore being loaded in.
