“H ΤΑΝ Η ΕΠΙ ΤΑΣ” – “With your shield, or upon it.”
The parting phrase of a Spartan mother to her son, implying that only death is acceptable in the absence of victory.

The lyrics to the song are based on the epic Montenegrin poem, “The Mountain Wreath”, by the Prince-Bishop, Petar II Petrović Njegoš (1813-1851).

“Viđi vraga su sedam bi –
Njišah, su dva mača, su dvje –
Krune, za njim jata prokle –
Toga kota, da opuste –
Zemlju svukoliku ka ska-
Kavac što polja opusti!
Malen svijet za Adova žvala,
Ni najes’ ga, a tek prejesti!”

“Behold the spectre with seven red scarves,
Wielding two swords and two crowns,
Leading hordes of a cursed breed,
To bring pestilence upon the land,
As the locust lays waste to the fields!
Too small are these realms for the mouth of Hell –
It refuses its fill, for it lives to overeat!”

  1. I just played it through for the first time.
Guess the 37h playtime speak for themselves. I really enjoyed it, what a masterpiece!
Someone should give you a lot of money and a development-team for more polishing and future projects.
    Great done!

  2. at 0:10 it says ¨Η ΤΑΝ Η ΕΠΙ ΤΑΣ" = (return back to me with your shield alive wounded or dead) This was the farewell phrase Spartan mothers or wives said to their departing warrior sons or husbands, upon giving them their shield. A warrior returning with his shield meant that he did not flee from the battle. Its what King's Leonidas wife said to him when he left to fight the Persians

  3. Wow. I’m just discovering this after my college (Davidson) posted an article about it.

This guy graduated a year before me, and I only knew of him as that really nice guy from Cyprus that was insanely good at basketball, but the team didn’t want him to walk on for some reason? Whatever the case, dude just was lights out from three every time I ever saw him – like 10 steps above everyone else playing pick up all day every day.

Never would have guessed he had this masterpiece cooking in his brain, and that just him and two others were able to make it a reality. So so cool and honestly inspiring considering he didn’t have any art, music, or programming background before he dove into it.
