My half-baked theory is they rebuilt their zanpakto spirit after having them stolen when their bankais were stolen (that's the way I'm interpretting it esp with the way Histugaya reacted). I'm kinda taking zanpakos to be a fictional equivalent to a physial manifestation of tulpas (which is a real thing, personally I think interestingly cool myself. Can kinda relate since I'm a DID system not a tulpa system but that's a tangent). However in tulpamancy it's very much what you described from what I understand, that you manifest a part of yourself, however you understand that to be, to split off into a different part of your consciousness. Assuming that's what shinigami do with their zanpakos their shikai and bankai's would again be like physical manifestations these 'tulpas' so if they were stolen but the shinigami remained, would it be possible that an echo/ghost of the zanpako (like memories) still in the shinigami's soul might be able to reignite? Like you said a core theme of Ichigo and Zangestu is you are the blade so it would make sense like yin and yang blurring together before they come apart again. Or i might just be a lot more high than I thought lmao 😅
The VIZ terms used for all the german in this arc are mostly wrong and really jarring for anyone who speaks german.
"Voll Stern Dich" is complete nonsense (literally translating to "Full Star You"). It's supposed to be "Vollständig" (meaning "complete", similar to the translation of Bankai)
Quilge's ability is also incorrect. It should be written as "Sklaverei", which translates to "slavery".
It's a real shame, the way they butchered the german language.

Opponents we cannot defeat without bankai reiterated the guy who defeated Primero Espada with his shikai.

I need my memory refreshed why was Shuhei alone facing Driskel where was Kensei. I did love the expressions of Az Nodt they were so creepy especially when his eyes Squinted that was so unsettling
Just curios if Shuhei had unleashed his Bankai could he have beaten Driskel, My guess is maybe but Yamamoto would have appeared and told Shuhei to deactivate his Bankai as he wants to avenge Chojiro
Another thing that hints to Ichigo and Orihime dating is that in Ichigo's room Orihime got to sit on a seat whilst everyone else got to sit on the floor
Maybe komamura didn't cut the explo-ball with his sword but with the reiatsu around his sword… which is why he was able to split it and it diffused into the air around it and made the air explode instead…
-As far as i understand it… the sword itself is not the "Zanpakuto"…
-The Zanpakuto itself is the spirit living in the sword, which came to life from the spirit of the shinigami…
-The sword GAINS it's powers when the "Zanpakuto" moves into the sword becoming one with it…
-The now special powered sword can be used by the shinigami in its standard form as a powerful sword…
-When the shinigami finally "talks" to their Zanpakuto… the shinigami is now able to use the special power because the "Zanpakuto" "teaches" the shinigami how to use it…
-When the shinigami finally reaches the bankai, it is because they finally overcame the "zanpakuto" and they both use the sword and it's powers together…
Therefore… even if the "Zanpakuto" is not there anymore the shinigami already knows how to use the sword and its powers but can't use its full capacity, aka bankai, because the zanpakuto is not there anymore…
Also bonus… the Sternritter cant steal the zanpakuto unless they are in bankai form because that is when they actually "come out of the sword"…
Since the fullbring topic was brought up again… quick question…
The body ichigo is in right now… is it his human body embued with shinigami powers? or is it a spiritual body and his human body was left back home? I got confused by the end of the Fulbring arc back there… as a Fullbringer he was using his human body but i am not sure how it ended up after he was pierced by Urahara's weird sword… did his spirit body come out of his physical one? or did his powers awaken in his human body just like the fullbring powers?

Yeah, unfortunately Kubo’s writing and worldbuilding consistency have no shortage of holes.
The only explanation I have for them stealing their bankai and not the swords spirits is that a bankai is the physical representation of the swords spirit and therefore made out of reishi. So it makes kinda sense that the quincies could steal the bankai and not the swords spirit itself…
I’m worried about the recap if we keep getting recaps every now and then that is a sign of production issues. And that is time that could be spent on expanding this arc, and explaining things that were not properly explain fights that were too short that can be extended even more.
