Byakuya loves Rukia, look how he treated her in the past, Byakuya is fully capable of acting purely out of duty despite love. Even if in this case it just meant he wouldn't follow orders from the L Quincy.
The Love didn't work on Byakuya because of the cape the 0 squad gave him, that is why it worked on his sword
Just to clarify some things:
– Byakuya resisted the Morphine Pattern and PePe's "Love" because of the Ouken given to him by Zero Squad. He does love people.
– Ichigo's Ouken got obliterated because it was hit by (among other things) Candice's "Galvano Blast", which contains 5 gigajoules of energy., which is just over 4.8 trillion joules. For reference, the MOAB (the most powerful non-nuclear explosive ever used in warfare) only contained around 4 million joules of energy. Essentially, Ichigo tanked a city-devastating attack as though it were nothing because thats how resistant the Ouken was after breaking through the barriers between the Soul Palace and the Soul Society.
Funny how Kubo always pits Byakuya against an enemy that can manipulate others through love/bonds (Zomari the Espada's Amor ability, my uncle Tsukishima's Book of the End and now Pepe).
I love that he called that one Arrancar a fool for attacking Toshiro, but when the vizord captains attacked he was like "eh, youll be fine, go nuts"
Love didn't work on Byakuya because everyone already loves Pepe. This is how Byakuya loves. He tries killing them. Look at what he said about Rukia in the beginning, he wanted to kill her himself.
This is a joke… don't seriously come at me.
Mayuri has quickly became one of my favorite characters in TYBW. Also looking forward to the future streams!

I think Candice (lighting girl) just has that much raw power on her too destroy the Oken robes Byakuya kind of lucked out she was weakened so much from fighting Ichigo and getting shot by Bazz B

Ichigo's Εken (meaning King's Key) clothing is that new Black one he has Right now. The one on top was just for barriers and for Drip.
Byakuya's Εken's clothing did protect him from that Morphine Pattern and Pepe's Love Kiss.
Though for Morphine Pattern, his Spiritual Power/Pressure is likely so fined, that NaNaNa (piano teeth guy) has to watch him for a lot longer for it to take effect.
And for Pepe's Love, while Byakuya absolutely has love in his heart. It is possible that enough Willpower could go against it.
