You should react to percy jackson blacksmithing scene
I find it super comical that Ronda has gloves for her weapon, and her only mma losses are to strikers….Its like saying hey, im super clumsy and cut myself all the time, give me that double blade 4 edge weapon….Shes an Olympic medalist in Judo, so it is more plossible that she rips that ogars arm off with a submission than it is she even lands a punch on anyone….js because someone had to lmao
3:40 werent grindstones originally pedal powered like the first sowing machines?
In the movie The Hunted the bad guy finds an abandoned car. He uses metal from the car to make a knife for fighting. I don't remember about the fire. It would be cool for you to make a knife using only parts from a car; leaf springs, coil springs, rotor etc… No hammer and anvil, only use the car metal.
please stop
Have you a funny day. Quenching steel in blood. It's the same thing as quenching in pee. Or just quenching in baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. Except peroxide reacts to backing soda so it has to be backed up on tracking with mixed isopropyl. They both smell. And isopropyl works only a little bit. It doesn't get the peroxide perfectly cold. It works a little bit.
I think a really neat challenge for Alec would be to make a damascus sword with lettering made out of the Damascus patterns itself. Kind of like what you see at 1:53.
The guy pulling the rope in the 13th warrior is running a bellows silly, that seems pretty obvious.
I am so happy about YOU making these videos, so I do not have to watch these scenes to much. It is hilarious to watch though, both your reactions and the sillyness of it all. Specially liked the damascus one, where they could have just payed the person who made the actuall blade to come and tell them NOPE or YEPP to what they where doing.
Is there an movie that actually gets it 100% right out there?
I would love to see a breakdown of Sokka making his sword from the meteorite
remember when alec did blacksmithing more than every 6 months? man, good times lol. jk fellas, have a merry christmas!
Its called The African Queen and it stars Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn, jeez dudes its like one of the 100 most famous movies!!!
Most movies I'm sure have actual smiths as "Technical Advisors" but in the same manner as military movies having "TAs" the producers/directors flat out ignore them because they only care about the visual aspects and not the realism. Let's face it, smithing is a repetitive, slightly boring activity to anyone who doesn't love doing it, lol. For those of us who DO love it, watching the colors change, hammering bit by bit and seeing the metal change shape into what we want IS the magic of it all, and it's why smiths were considered almost supernatural in the old days. The Riddle of Steel in the old Conan movie is a perfect example, the secrets of the blacksmith being handed down only to their apprentices.
As an old Army grunt, I cringe constantly at blatant inaccuracies in every movie/show involving military tactics/weapons/protocol and worst of all, uniforms. Totally understand your sometimes dumbfounded look and indignation at what's on screen, lol.
Fun fact: In 13th Warrior, the people see in the movie making armour are the armourers who made the armour and props for the movie.
the last scene is from the film Outlander. It's a Sci-Fi Movie of an extraterrestrial crashing in the eighth century Wiking-Norway. So the tactical blade is not far off
Looking forward to the video where you test the quenching of a blade in human blood. Just get it from Jamie, one way or another.
You should make a sword which has seatbelt cutter and bottle opener!
They are films for entertainment, so it's not real…
That sword from outlander looks like this, as it was made out of alien spacecraft parts the protagonist salvaged from his crashed ship.
I think my favorite dumb thing about swordmaking in movies is how in so many of them they hammer out the sword and then it's magically razor sharp with no grinding or sharpening needed.
Lol the Outlander blade. Wonderfully awful movie. Can't recommend it enough.
to note bronze is very popular for props in the EU, while aluminum is more common in America, steel in Asia and iron in Africa.
Wooooo Avatar!!! And it was done mostly right!! Except for probably the next part with an open mold and they pour the metal in
