Not me thinking Michael B. Jordan was Nick Cannon… MEANWHILE. THIS MOVIE NEVER hit the pause button.

  1. Not one of the best MCU films but perhaps one of the more important MCU films. Chadwick is missed. He was a fighter in the truest sense of the word.
EDIT: Enjoyed it more on this second viewing. Without all the political hype behind it. Moved it up a bit in my MCU ranking.

  2. Grace Jones? Grace Jones is a CONCEPT. The ultimate work of art. She started as model for all of the big luxury fashion houses, then in music at the end of the 1970s-beginning of 1980s and quickly after that started getting cast in movies. She was a Bond girl in A View To A Kill and starred with Schwarzenegger in Conan The Destroyer. She was the muse and lover of Jean Paul Goude for many years and I suggest you google their names together. They made some iconic 1980s art. Her wiki is also a very decent rundown of what an influence she's been.

She still performs live and makes music and the odd guest appearance in a movie or a TV show

  3. Ulysses Claw was actually one of the villians from Avengers Age Of Ultron who was being threatened by the twins, Remember Ultron cut off his arm that's why he has a mechanical arm in this film, and Black Panther only showed up in Civil War before this film.

  4. Infinity War is next. What follows is a spoiler, but it was widely known by the Fandom at the time. When Infinity released, most of the stars in the MCU had contracts that insured they would be in multiple MCU movies going forward over the next few years.

  5. The writers and director of the upcoming sequel are in a tough spot with Chadwick Boseman's passing but after watching the first trailer I had to admit that there are worse spots to be in than "let's give Angela Bassett more to do".

  6. Grace Jones was a model/actress/singer who blew open the doors back in the 80's. Since Hallowbeans is coming may I recommend the movie Vamp in which she stars. Excellent 80's vampire movie.

  7. This movie just has so many layers and so many interesting characters.

I really like M'Baku, he's one of my favorite MCU characters. He's set up early as a "villain" but he's not. He believes T'Challa is a weak leader, so he challenges him as is his right. He doesn't fight dirty, he doesn't do anything unfair. He challenges, and he loses. And he accepts death as his consequence for his failed challenge. Demands it actually, as he has proved himself a weak leader with poor judgement. So his honor demands his life. But T'Challa says "your people need you." And M'Baku, being an actually good leader, puts his own pride and honor aside, and yields, for the good of his people.

Later, he could easily take the power for himself. He could have killed T'Challa. But he knows that he is the superior leader. So he tends to him, and gives him back the power. Because T'Challa is his king, and he would do anything for his king, short of compromising his own people. Which is also why he doesn't immediately agree to help fight a seemingly impossible battle. Because he won't sacrifice his people to a lost cause. But he is loyal, and does show up in force to support his king when victory seems possible.

It is a very real and believable set of choices throughout. All weighed carefully, balancing duty to various groups and people, as well as himself. And you can find similar internal balances of politics and tradition among several of the main characters in this movie. It really is in a league of storytelling in its own compared to the rest of the MCU.

  8. Chadwick was AMAZING in this. I mean, so was everyone else, but damn. It makes me cry every time I watch it knowing he's gone. Great talent & by everything I've heard, a superb person. What a loss.
