Black Ops 6 Anti-Cheat Improvements, False Bans, Shadow Bans, & More!

Yesterday, we got a blog outlining a bunch of improvements to Ricochet Anti-Cheat with the launch of Black Ops 6 so today, I wanted to discuss these changes as well as some general thoughts on the state of Call of Duty’s anti-cheat and the community’s reception to this. What are your thoughts on the improvements that they’ve outlined for Ricochet in BO6?

  1. They need to work on the communication bans. I can play an entire game, and have my mic muted (not saying a word), and get com banned, because the 6 man party on the other team mass reported me for beating them.

  2. Its just funny cheaters are a thing still like grown adults being completely lame am i at point where cheating in a game should get your whole IP address banned everyone in that house should he banned

  3. I truly think that SBMM has brought the peak of cheaters in this game….. we had cheaters even in console in the old days but those were so little compare to now days. People just DO NOT want to sweat every single game and those who are just given up they chose to use cheats! Bad thing? All around but that’s my thought

  4. it also doesn't help they are whitelisting cheating streamers too under the pretense of "shadowbans". It's not even hush hush thing, streamers are openly telling their viewers they are whitelisted. Anyone who cheats should be permanently banned. End of story. Nobody cares streamers need to cheat to maintain their viewership.

With this being said, I was very critical of them, being a dev myself, because they had all kinds of AI and advanced tech to monitor voice chats for "hate speech" going so far to detect infliction in the voice but couldn't do the same thing for cheating.

But the fact they are switching/adding behavioral machine learning this will significantly impact the amount of cheaters for sure and is a positive thing.

  5. Thats the problem with this generation man is that they all want instant gratification, they take everything for granted, they have no perspective on anything, bitch and complain about literally anything, and pretend like they are experts. It could stop 1000 attacks and let one get through and all they will ever do is scream and point at the one and let their confirmation bias take over smh. It's pathetic

  6. I feel like the anti-cheat works pretty well to be honest. I’ve been spam reported so many times since MW2 when the anti-cheat was introduced. I have never been kicked off the game, unable to log in or play, never once been banned or even shadowbanned for that matter. This leads me to believe that most players (like >90%) who are being banned or even shadow banned are legit cheating & just complaining because they’ve been caught.

If the system was so bad, I would have at been banned AT LEAST ONE TIME by now. I often get wall-bang snipes on players (proof in my youtube videos) which makes them insta report me.

But nope. Never once been banned. Guess im just the luckiest player on earth huh😂

  7. Idk last time they messed with their anticheat, myself and so many others were false perm banned. Took an arm and a leg to get ahold of ANYONE to try and get it unbanned. “Manipulated game files and data” on PS5? Idk. Couple weeks later, checked it and was unbanned. No aknowledgment of it even happening to the players, no apology. The whole time their reps stated “if it banned you it was already reviewed and is permanent, we don’t reverse perm bans”. Bs. Here I am not banned so I guess their system is broken and they won’t admit it.

  8. Hopefully given the time i haven't played cod has reset my sbmm bracket 😂 so i don't have to deal with cheaters in higher brackets. I'm not even good. Since mw19 my kd has been well below 1

  9. I always thought it'd be funny if every time a cheater got booted out of multiplayer/warzone, then the announcer would be like "Get that S.O.B out of my sight" or "Execute the traitor". Those lines are from BO2 for those who don't know.

  10. As many of people are saying in the comments.
I believe SBMM is a cause of a lot of cheating in the game..
When people are playing against constant sweats they assume they are cheating and then they in turn cheat.

I wish there was a game mode with out SBMM where I can go and goof around with non-meta guns.

  11. 10:10 If they can’t guarantee that the player they are permanently banning is a cheater, they shouldn’t issue a perma ban. They should then implement a clearer system of warnings and temporary suspensions.

Revoking permanent access to games that a person has paid for should only be applied as a last resort, especially for players with a long and clean history in the franchise.

  12. They should do what valorant does, if you report someone and they get banned, you get told that the player u reported was penalized. That way people will actually know that the people they report are getting banned

  13. Yeah, Ricochet is stupid! I quit playing due to cheaters over a year ago and I come back to play BO6 beta to find I was banned. Appealed it since I was on console and they said too bad! I dont have the time or money to cheater and now I lost $100s for falsely getting banned…

  14. I know for a fact this anti cheat won't do anything. We will see more hackers this year and it will continue to get worse. We need to remove pc cod from cross play. I say that while playing on a great pc

  15. My thing is they will never combat it when they publicly tell the community what they are doing. A lion never tells its pray its plan. Hence, Activision is not the lion😂😂🤡💩

  16. Spoiler Alert: Activision is making false promises, is going to ramp up skill based matchmaking, damage, and accuracy, and wont actually fix the hacker issue. Not buying this one.

  17. I think a big problem is when they decrease and/or make changes to SBMM without letting anybody know because all of a sudden you have a more mixed lobby with some really good players, some average and some low level. This only causes the lower skilled players to all of a sudden think that they have cheaters in the lobby. This will cause players to not like the game during these matches thus giving Activision false responses that only back up what they are currently doing with SBMM.

  18. For all the Ricochet haters, play an old Call of Duty on Steam and see how fast you run into a cheater. If you can get a match, there is a 99% chance you'll get one first game.

While Ricochet is not perfect, it's a million times better than VAC.

  19. If this works, we gonna start witnessing a lot of streamers become noobs out of nowhere😂😂😂😂 🤞 , cant wait to see streamers, cheaters get humbled , only the cheaters, respect to the real players that plays awesome without cheating.

  20. To be honost, i find al this a bit hard to believe. Bobbypoff has been unbanned from his permabann because he fell victim to the 'people can get you permabanned even if you don't cheat' thing. But on the other hand, he openly admits to account sharing and paying someone to level up his guns and grind camo and gear, which is stated to be cheating by themselves? Activision needs to stop treating streamers in a different way.
