The No Purchase Challenge is one of the most difficult challenges in Zombies history. In this challenge, the only thing I’m allowed to buy are doors, meaning I’m relying on the free items around the map to survive. And today, we’re going to see if I can complete this challenge on my first attempt by reaching Round 30 on every single map in Black Ops 2 Zombies.

0:00 – Black Ops 2 Zombies but I Can’t Buy ANYTHING
0:20 – Two Thousand Foot Tutorial
4:25 – Déjà vu

25:53 – Anvils and Anchors

Reminder: If you use the /fast_restart console command in Black Ops 2 and try and view the recording in the theater, the entire application will crash the frame the command is entered. This means nothing you did after restarting is viewable via theater mode. …Lost a day of my life to that one. I had to play each of these games twice because of that. Don’t say I don’t love you. Also apologies for any continuity errors this causes.

  1. I tried testing this and it’s pretty dang complicated. Although in practice, I just charge retriever twice for brutus, charge redeemer once for zombies, and that’s that. But here’s what I think from testing:

Retriever and redeemer do 1500 damage uncharged, 2000 damage after 2 charges (no increased damage from one charge). However, if the redeemer is charged at least once it overrides that damage with the enemy’s heath. I observed when charging the redeemer once it would not take brutus’ helmet off. But if it ricocheted from another zombie to brutus it would take his helmet off, presumably because of the damage being overridden. In solo the retriever is a oneshot uncharged through round 14 and charged twice through round 17. Redeemer oneshots through round 14 uncharged and any level charged at least once.

Other than damage charging maybe increases the time the retriever/redeemer can be in the air between hitting things. And it seems to detect if it’s not going to hit anything and will return before going the full throw distance, which makes it difficult to test the range. That’s also why I don’t think charging it helps reach blue skulls for example. I’m not sure if this is calculated after each zombie hit or when it’s thrown. I kinda think it just all gets calculated by what would get hit and which zombies are close enough to get chained at the time of the throw and doesn’t recalculate it and just bounces around to the zombies it planned on initially.

TLDR: Upgrade to redeemer asap. Don’t bother charging redeemer more than once.

  2. As a heads up for the Acid Gat, aiming down sights makes the spread of the projectiles waaayyyy tighter so you dont have to pray for rng that they dont land too close when you panic shoot. Your down at 16:32 would've been saved with this.
