I did not expect for the title drop to happen in the difficulty settings, but here we are. That's how you know this is gonna be a great highlight
Half life 3 confirmed 👌
So for a quick tldr as to the events of the story:
Black Mesa is supplied with a mysterious crystal by a man in a blue suit (G-man) and use it for an experiment. The experiment goes wrong and opens a portal to an alien world called Xen, causing hostile aliens to come to Earth. You fight your way through these aliens and the military (who have arrived to cover it up) to reach the surface. The scientists you meet along the way mention trying to close the portal with a satellite, but the military stopped the launch. Although you are able to successfully launch the satellite, it does NOT close the portal, and you soon discover that Black Mesa has not only known of Xen's existence for a long time, but has also been actively experimenting with the alien lifeforms. Another group of scientists believe the portal is being held open by something on the other side, so you are tasked with going to Xen and killing whatever it is. You fight your way through Xen and eventually kill the creature holding the portal open, the Nihilanth. G-man immediately arrives and tells you that his "employers" were impressed by your work, and offers you a job, placing you in stasis for 20 years before the events of Half-Life 2.
NOW, during this 20 year gap, the Vortigaunts (red-eyed aliens that shoot green lightning) are now free of the Nihilanth's control and opt to side with humanity against the coming threat: an alien, inter-dimensional empire that we call the Combine. The Combine saw what happened with Xen and Earth and arrive to enslave all of humanity and the Vortigaunts in just 7 hours, an event called the 7 Hour War. 20 years later, Gordon awakens on yet another train, and the rest is history.
Who's up halfing there life rn?

It felt like you played this a few months ago, not a whole year ago ._. My god I hate the concept of time
"I would feel bad about this, but morality is for people who don't have other people trying to kill them every five minutes." – Gordon Freeman (Freeman's Mind). Also Ray's Gordon apparently.
32:42 He is a friend (on account of being friend-shaped) and his name is Schwerple
Why no WHITE Mesa?!?!?
What do you mean its already been a year?! I felt like he streamed this like 6 months ago
Look Gordon, ropes! We cam use these too-
HELP ME GORDON!
32:42 Did anyone let him know those Snarks were what the Needler in Cursed Halo was a reference to?
Never forget Terry
the visceral reaction i had to the Let's Play Sync at 30:00 cannot be explained
The thing about the opening is that at the time it was mind blowing. The game came out in 1998 and travelling seamlessly through such a huge detailed environment outside of a cutscene was nuts. Even if it's on rails.
