That’s my issue I’m rly trying to get as close to this Friday-Monday but at the same time I’ve seen things especially this weekend/month where I’m like OMG this is a great deal on something I genuinely want && been super tempted but then nervous if I get too much now I won’t wanna spend any this weekend when historically, they have the best sales.
My two biggest tips:
Just cuz it’s on a crazy sale doesn’t mean you actually want it or will truly get use out of it.
Make a list of some things you’ve really actually wanted before you shop. Or even put shirts, eye brushes some categories you could use. It rly helps me focus myself & know what I rly wanna spend my money on.
A general budget helps too. I’m so excited.
In my app I am NOT seeing the Ulta fragrance sales. Leah posted about yesterday’s & they had 40% of alien goddess I was so bummed.
Lauren, that’s my current life struggle… but will it be the BIGGEST discount?? Ugh, the stress. I’m also a good deal girl so even just looking to see what’s on sale is fun for me.
I love shopping online, but as you say, there are so many supposed BF sakes already that it's confusing. No way I'm falling for it now and realizing the better deals are actually on Friday. This year, I'm kind of nostalgic for the days when everyone sent out flyers in advance and you could actually plan your shopping ahead. I may just buy dog toys and treats at this point. Too much! 😂

Um, not in Australia. We rarely get the deals you get in the US. No discounts on Chantecaille, Kosas, Hourglass etc.
It has literally been Black November and even Black Fall this year. I’ve gotten offers in my email saying get our Black Friday offer now since middle of September. It’s absolutely insane. The first one was from Niche-Beauty (Europe)😅

I want big discounts on actual Black Friday.. like, I don’t want 20% for the whole month.. discounts used to be waaay bigger, like 70%.. and as you said, there’s probably going to be another sale a week after or before Christmas..

I remember getting mad last year when I thought a sale was as good as it was going to get, bought my stuff, and then watched the discount improve further two days later. Now I know better, but still run the risk of items going out of stock while I wait for the best deal.
As a rule, I never click on the link to see what is on sale for black friday or any sale; I go to my favorites/loves/wishlist and see if anything i ALREADY wanted is on sale. Otherwise just the lure of a sale will get you to buy stuff you don't actually need or even especially want. Which is no savings at all.
As someone who works in retail I do not miss the craziness Black Friday brought. I'm glad I can have thanksgiving with my family and be able to purchase things when before it would be sold out by the time I got off
Black Friday is no longer old Black Friday. These days there are sales all the time. You can find good deals throughout a year.
The only sale I'm looking forward to is lush boxing day when I can buy some of their Halloween/ Christmas range for 50% (lord of misrule and Sticky dates for me, maybe one of their gift sets), will do it online though and maybe in store if they still have products on sale in January (always worked in the past few years, we will see)

Most of what I bought so far was replacements for things that will run out before year-end. I bought some stuff from Auric that I wanted and wanted to wait for the sale (20%) because they never do sales.
Honestly I noticed how sales roll around constantly, so the get it now before its out statementnimplied by some of these sales no longer works on me..😭 sales always come back!
That feeling of being worried that the current deals are better than the actual black Friday deals is a literally a tactic to get you to spend your money now when, for most brands, their deals are actually not as good as actual black Friday will be. They want you to buy things now that you’re not going to buy again in a week or two at a lower price than you would be able to buy them on actual BF. There are, of course, some exceptions to this for companies who are prioritizing ethical business practices and won’t be having an actual sale on Actual black Friday.
I am holding out 3 weeks after Christmas for Marshalls!!!
Canada now has BF mania. I find that most companies I purchase from have sales all year. This time of year shopping stresses me out.

As far as year-round sales… Consumer spending is down across many industries, and people are being more cautious with their purchases. I think we’re also so oversaturated with options and for beauty, still coming out of the pandemic behavior where we had nothing to do but consume social media and play with makeup – I know a lot of my friends and family (myself included) are opting for more natural makeup and using our staples rather than constantly buying new and experimenting.
It used to be that retailers would wait all year for holiday shopping, but reality is that they have to be competitive and have started having better sales throughout the year. In some cases, much better sales than actual BF events. Good time for consumer choice, for those who can afford it.

I snagged airwrap at 20% off at ulta but if Sephora does 25% off after pay I might return n go that route. I haven't even opened or touched the box. going to refrain till around Christmas to snag the best deal.
What is all this "Black Friday" nonsense? And why would retailers advertise it this way?
Black is associated with evil/bad/tragic things. For example, if a disaster occurred on a Friday, it would often be remembered as "Black Friday".
I don't get it.
I am currently working somewhere with no sales whatsoever. BUT! Last year i worked seasonal at a clothing store and they did their Black Friday sale for the most of November. It made sense to me because we want to continue making sales before and after Black Friday. But we explained that this sale would BE our Black Friday sale. There would be no update to the sale and it would continue through December.
The AMOUNT OF PEOPLE who are still holding out. "No, I'll just wait for Black Friday" Like, girly, you come back BF there will be nothing left. This sale is 3 weeks old and we're drying up on items. lol
