Debbie! Welcome back!
Welcome back, Deb Deb!
Your hair has changed and it's looking good!
Debbie Is back ❤
Bentornata!!!
Nice to hear from you, Debbie. ❤ Hope you're well. I feel you btw. While I've still been going to theaters a lot, the urge to watch anything back at home has gone down significantly for me, even though my watchlist is massive. It's just become less enjoyable for me to sit down and watch a film, because of how much it burns me out.
The best movies out this year are international movies all the US movies aren't worth SHIT.
Hello there, Debbie! Nice to see you again! Movie-fatigue is understandable. Sean Baker is awesome, looking forward to see the new movie from him!.
How hard is it to make an original film that would be prime for future franchise sequels? M3gan, Knives Out, and Smile seemed to have done it, and I'm thrilled when at least recent properties like that are spawning sequels and at least that's something I could be proud of our generation for being a part of. It's the Transformers, Beetlejuice, The Crow, Lion King, Minions, Alien, Wonka, etc. that get me more cynical than not. Also, to relate with you, I get more shocked at the violence in movies like Godfather and Taxi Driver than I am in arguably more graphic recent movies like In A Violent Nature. I can't articulate why that is.
So happy that you are back! I really like your videos and your recommendations(
especially smaller and indie movies that I wouldn't know even exist if it weren't for you).Agree with negative effects of social media, even when i'm reading i catch myself grabbing my phone for a sec,so i am also working to cleanse myself from them.
Recently apart from Dune part 2,only watched older movies The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,American Psycho,Eyes Wide Shut,Barry Lyndon,The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie,Paris, Texas…
Wish you all the best!(also always stay honest as you are) 🙂
Hi Debbie, I've been waiting for your next video. And you know what? I feel the same like you do, even if I'm not even half the movie geek like you are. I just recently browsed my nearest cinemas (incl. one showing indy/old movies) and it's the first time since Dunkirk, when there's literally nothing to watch in the summer time. The movie of the season is Deadpool 3? I dont give a sh!t about Marney. This is severely disappointing and I don't even know I'm waiting for anything since Nolan is out ouf the next Bond and Pattison is (is he?) out of the next Batman. In an way, keep it up!
P.S. What all people need nowadays is a good comedy. Like The Hangover. World needs to laugh back at itself again.
P.P.S. I am sorry if I've been part of the Godzilla: Minus One hype, as I hate people overhyping stuff for me. I my mind it's the most Japanese godzilla move since the 1960s.
Glad to see you posed. Disagree with your take on “I saw the TV Glow” as I found it to be one of the best movies this year and definitely place it in my top 10.
I went in blind and it really moved me. I grew up during the same time the main characters did and also escaped into tv/film, so now, as an older man (elder millennial), the line “time wasn’t right, it was moving too fast” shook me.
Moreover, the overall message of identity and not wasting your life resonated. Only after did I find out it was directed by a trans director and can see how some might think the message is for trans people but I feel it’s a universal message for those of us that maybe escape to tv/film to distract ourselves from the people we really are and the lives we live.
Hey, kudos for recognizing you were getting a bit burnt out and prioritizing on you for a bit. You owe no one anything, never feel obligated to do anything. We all love your reviews and takes but! If you aren't enjoying it or it's a burden it's not healthy and it's okay to move on or take a break. I had to delete tiktok and other social media I used to check. It was just too much mental burden, time lost and just not making me happy.
Glad you are feeling happy and healthy with a renewed passion for what you enjoy. Keep looking out for yourself first and sharing your interests and thoughts with the world.
I for one am mostly over the domestic film industry, and have become hooked on asian cinema, european cinema, etc, and seeking out films for myself and not just watching whatever people are talking about or marketing to me, and it’s become a much more personal experience for me 🙂 Glad you’ve rediscovered your love for film as well
I've missed you Debbie, how is it going for you ? 🙂
Hi Deb, I was so glad you are okay. I figured you just needed a little break. You can't fake true inspiration. You just needed to step back and remind yourself of why you have love for films. Take your time with family and friends either way, you have a community that is here to listen. I watch YouTube videos for individuals, not how much was spent on fancy edits or sets. Keep at it. Your content is greatly appreciated.
You should try the movie longlegs if you haven't checked it out yet!
Nice to see you back!
You're gonna speak english with Italian accent??!! Yay 😁
Very nice to hear from you Debbie. I've been having the same feelings about current state of original movies now over the past few years. The long tiring hunt for a half way good movie is a thing now.
What a surprise and what a pleasure to have been mentioned in the video!
Personally, I stopped watching trailers and reading reviews, I never want to create expectations.
I watch a film if there is a director or an actor or a production company that I might like….
I haven't seen Challengers yet, I loved and watched Civil War twice and I didn't like Poor Things at all…..
Nice to see you back Debbie. I get the feeling you have of being disillusioned with movies. Hell, my favourite genre is comedy and the theatrical comedy has pretty much been murdered by Hollywood. Earlier this year, I thought that this year's crop of films was going to be rough because going into April the only film I had liked so far was SOMETIMES I THINK ABOUT DYING (seriously recommend this film as it is my favourite film of the year so far), but then I started finding great films like CHALLENGERS, CIVIL WAR (seeing it at a second run independent near my house, I too had the same feeling of awe when watching it), and THE FALL GUY and all of a sudden earlier this month when I was making my best movies of the year so far list I was having trouble limiting it to five films. I think the plan to mix in some comfort films when you go on a streak of bad films is a good idea. Here's hope for better movies in the later half of the year, for both of us.
You can start to build your faith again, after watching Longlegs
Hi Debbie, i don't understand i left a nice comment welcoming you back and it's been moderated ?? what is youtube on ?? do you see it ? thanks Debbie.
OH dear Longlegs… Miss sold as i saw they compared it to Silence of the lambs. miles away! supernatural, so far fetched. only good thing was teh dark filmography. sorry 4 out of 10. Only Dune 2 falling into great movie category. but im glad your back, miss your reviews
