  1. Excellent tutorial! I'm an 80s teenager too so I remember the harsh look. I REALLY needed this tutorial because the fear of being too harsh has caused me and others to almost completely stop using makeup. Which doesn't help the matter! I can't wait to use these tips. But first, working on a new skin care routine from one of your other videos. You are my go-to for style, apartment living, hair, and makeup! Thank you for this wonderful channel. ~Kelley

  2. What is so funny is that you are so beautiful that you can’t look bad even on the side with less than optimal technique😊 Thank you for continuing to teach us.

  3. I enjoyed this very much thank you! I think you were the first person doing a makeup tutorial that I've ever watched all the way through! (And actually was able to do the makeup with you while you did it) although I did two good sides instead of one haha

  4. So happy to see a experienced and talented makeup tutorial for someone my age!! My skin and lack of feeling good about myself has suffered due to my 3 years of chemotherapy and immunotherapy Cancer treatment. So Turning 65 is such a blessing for me , I had prepared myself for death and stopped caring about my looks and self care especially after my husband of 40 years passed last year😢Have to admit I was stuck in some the 80’s bad makeup applications.Especially since the 80s and early 90s were the years I worked as a model .. Some people say it’s only makeup but it goes so much deeper. Thank you Dominique, I have learned a lot and you have inspired me to celebrate and focus on myself.❤

  5. I noticed you started with false eyelashes on both eyes. Could you do a tutorial on picking the right lashes and how to apply them? I am 61 years old and would like to learn how to use them. I have tried a few different ones. I just can't seem to get them to go on right and stay on. I think part of the problem is that my eyelids are slightly oily. The rest of my face is not oily or dry. I don't seem to have a problem with either. I do like to exfoliate every day. Maybe that's why. When I was a teenager, I used to have oily to combination skin. I have been lucky not to have wrinkles, but now starting to have some droopiness around my jawline and around a little of my neck. I would like to have some tips on what I can do to lesson that sagging look around the jawlines and under jaw. Any creams, lotions or makeup tips for that area? I love the classic, sophisticated look that you teach. ♥️. Happy New Year! 🥂

  6. Amazing how different the “bad” side is, how aging, droopy & unflattering it is!! Thanks for taking the time to instruct us in your youthful-looking, uplifting, anti-aging makeup techniques!! 👏👏👏

  7. Great tutorial. The only things I would change is, as you get older, your face sinks inward below the cheekbones so I would avoid contour there. Eyeshadow applied with a stiff angle brush works great for a a really natural eyebrow fill in. Taupey brown for that , on most people, looks great. I was a makeup artist for 30 years. I got a lot of really good tips from your video. Thanks!

  8. This was really great. I used to apply my makeup like you did when (wrong side) I was in my 20’s
Especially the way too light foundation! My face was always lighter than my body. But, some makeup artists always used too light of foundations on me back in the day, so I thought this was correct. Oh, when I look back, so wrong! Face and body did not match, and just looked off. Plus, the blush, and eyeshadow was pretty much the same as the wrong side too. Now, that I’m in my 60’s, I have been applying my makeup like you showed us on the good side, however I picked up some new tips, like lining the upper water line, and using middle toned shadows on the lower lid with out a pencil. Also, I will try placing my blush the way you did it on the good side. For lipstick, I do love the soft colors on me and the lighter lip pencils, as you have demonstrated, but sometimes I want a bright orange/red lip, and a berry lip. I’m not going to stop wearing bold lipsticks. 😊. Great demonstration!

  9. Wonderful tutorial! I have olive skin and don't seem to pick the right foundation. In the winter my skin is yellowish and in the summer, even with sunscreen, I tan. What do you suggest? When does bronzing work and where? Also I have puffy eye bags from allergies and runny eyes from dry eye. It seems hopeless in concealing the bags/circles. Plus, I keep getting people in Sephora covering the whole undereye area with concealer which then weighs down the bag and shows my lines in a few hours even with the Laura M. eye powder there. This is a great technique that you showed! A couple of makeup artists with web channels, teach the same thing. Stay under the bag. I don't think that the people in Sephora are trained to deal with older women's skin and aging conditions. Bless you!

  10. Thank you so much! I am 67 and I have not worn makeup for about 5 years! My daughter is getting married and I discovered my old products and techniques no longer work for me! Thank you for all the tips, especially the one about matching your chest because I discovered quickly that matching my facial skin made me look pale and sickly.
Update: I tried again with a warmer shade foundation that matched my chest. Shortened my brow length, and changed from shimmery eyeshadow to the colors you recommended and did my eyeliner under the lashes. Overall, I am much more pleased with the result. A lot of it was that the shimmery eyeshadows amplify all the wrinkles in my eyelids and around my eyes! Thank you for all your help

  11. Thank you so much …. your soft and gentle voice and explanations remind me of Bob Ross, who explained "the joy of painting" in TV. I do acrylic painting on canvas … and therefore I understand more and more the creative joy of make up myself (60).

  12. My eye dr told me to stop using eyeliner inside the lash line because it clogs your tear ducts as it did mine. You can unclog with heat followed by a warm soapy wash. I miss that look so much but it’s not worth the problem of clogging your pores

  14. In a month I’ll be 52 and this has helped me so much. How did it take so long to learn these tips? And I know I must be the odd one but I feel your wrong side looks great too and maybe it’s because your naturally beautiful but it’s probably because I only know the wrong way so it looks good still to me. I love the concealer on the wrong side too. But I love the eye on the right side. My daughter is getting married this next weekend and I wanted to get my make up right this time. Our third and last child to marry and I hate the wedding pics of me with our other two so third time I have to get this right. Lol (I am worried because I see the wrong side as not too bad too. Lol

  15. This has been the first tutorial I have applied successfully to my maturing face. The techniques did wonders for my hooded lids (asian)! My eyes look softer and younger. Amazing.
