I enjoy your videos ๐
Great video again Phil and liv. The McHale straw blower would be one for u.๐๐ค
On the hay shed roof if you take a sheet off the very top and and raise it with a 3×2 and long tex screws works very well to let the air out from the high point
SoooooThat was a Good video Soooooo and so the work begins now so
Good to see the calves coming home again
Mighty setup
I gave a season with an Urban auto feeder. Never again. Mixer bowl is just too small, only half a litre then stop to mix again, slow feeding out that too. Really only able to feed one calf at a time no matter how many stations you have. Easy block the tiny pipes and the valves too. Max we got onto the machine was 55 calves. Ate electricity too as it is fooling around 24/7 feeding a few calves. The milk wasn't being heated properly to the 40 degrees which sickened calves too. Would have to refill it too often also as the hopper was too small. Can feed whole milk too which isn't an option with the auto.
Swapped it for an Urban milk shuttle. Holds 250 litres so will feed 80 calves in a fill. It mixes, dispenses, heats and drives itself. Easy washed. Batched the calves in 12's to match the size of the feeder, now an hour feeds and beds the 100 calves, the electricity bill dropped a lot and less powder. A bit of time doing the thing properly and watching the calves as they drink is better spent than watching that yoke do a bad job all day and checking for the calves that haven't drank and getting them in. Nothing will get sick quicker than a calf that hasn't had any milk because he went to the station and nothing was coming and he fecked off because he was fed up waiting. I don't know how they get away with selling them to be honest.
The Insta 360 has great footage was that in the 5k mode or the 4k mode? Its a bit washed out for showing outside the shed but in fairness it did well. Did you use the app to move the footage or have you the desktop app for your computer? As far as I can see the desktop app has better results with less shaking of the footage overall. Always put the lenses face on to the main action so you have less stitching in the footage. Looks great I have camera envy!!
So well done Phil and liv so liv will be very busy from now on ๐๐
Not to shaw about farming but your doing a great job
beutful rothwiller wat its name
We have a mounted McHale straw chopper we use it for silage aswell, can feed a round bale in Abt 3 or 4 mins and cuts it fine, eats straw like no tomorrow definitely something to get used to ๐
Later than normal calving season pushing things out a bit too for ye Phil is it? Seems good idea to wait that bit longer for calves especially how busy early Feb is for ye.
Great video again, Phil, and good to c your good lady on video again
Great Video and damm nice camera โฌ450 to โฌ520 I guess, nice fottage. and very informative as always.
Phil when the calves come use the new intra nasal for the pneumonia it is a dream
Dont take all the sheats of it gets very cold
So now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now so now no now so now so now so now so now everybody
So Well lads how ye get on. So why was there so much seed left not soowed would it be better to sow the seed so it could grow so ye have more feed so the cattle could grow so then the mice would not be eating it so you know so you know. So anyway will ye sow much this year so ye use the seed so we can watch ye sow the seed so then ye get more likes so your videos will reach so much more so you know so you know. So anyway I must go because I'm only so so today just so you know so you know. So there. Nearly Time for sooing now so get the planter ready to sow. so now.
Good job. Always great to have shed ready to go ๐
I'd think a slatted vent would be good up in the sides of the roof.
๐
Great video Phil as always ๐
Good man Phil, great video as always, great to see the calves going in๐
Yeah think your spot on getting older calves, yes it will take more work to get them used to the feeding machines but they should be healthier and less prone to sickness and stress, so actually less work in the long run
We always store bales on pallets to keep them dry even when we use them to make penning for cattle. Normally make a pallet wall along the bales to stop them eating the bales and pulling at the netting an twine too. Use a few old haybob tines to anchor the pallets to the bales.
As for the ventilation, there a couple of easy options, remove a few sheets and offset them to create slatted gaps for air,
Angle the sheet out at the bottom to allow air through and keep the rain out
Replace with a section with wind barrier like you have down low this will allow the air through while keeping any heavy rain out.
All the best with this years batch
I think you will see a massive improvement in only buying in older calves. Even if a few do get sick they should be stronger to get over it better.
Best of luck๐
Brilliant camera and excellent footage, it's recording you picking the straw bale's and it record's the area you drop them of before you ,even reach that area it basically recording every movement
๐๐
So Phil and Liv, Good Luck with this seasonโs calf rearingโฆ interesting to hear about the proposed system changes.
Got my new huddy today well happy
Only saying but will they be harder to get value wise at a month old or is there a lot of fr bull calves around Longford great video again Phil
Great idea to get the calves to be that few weeks older before collecting them. You will hopefully have good results because of this. So so… Great ๐
I hope to find a job opportunity in a farm๐
nice video and setup for the shed, we like that videos of tidy up and calfs
Great video, keep up the good work
So glad your preparations are going so well.
Would u bite the bullet and apply tams grant for new calf facilities ?
