College football is a prominent and beloved aspect of American sports culture, deeply ingrained in the traditions and identities of many universities across the country. Here are some key aspects to explore further:
History and Evolution: College football has a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century, with the first game believed to have been played in 1869 between Rutgers and Princeton. Since then, the sport has evolved significantly, with changes in rules, playing styles, and the development of various conferences and divisions within the NCAA.
NCAA Divisions: College football is organized into different divisions within the NCAA, primarily the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), with each division having its own postseason structure and national championship.
Conferences: Teams in college football are grouped into conferences based on geographical location and historical affiliations. Some of the most prominent conferences in the FBS include the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the Big Ten Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the Pac-12 Conference, and the Big 12 Conference, among others.
Bowl Games: College football culminates in a series of postseason bowl games, which are traditional matchups between teams from different conferences. These bowl games provide an opportunity for teams to showcase their talents on a national stage and often carry significant prestige and financial rewards.
College Football Playoff (CFP): The CFP is the culmination of the college football season, featuring a four-team playoff to determine the national champion at the FBS level. The playoff was introduced in 2014 as a successor to the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and has since become the premier postseason event in college football.
Rivalries and Traditions: College football is renowned for its fierce rivalries and longstanding traditions, which play a significant role in the culture of the sport. Rivalry games often date back decades or even over a century and carry immense importance for the teams and their fans.
Impact and Influence: College football has a significant impact beyond the field, shaping university identities, generating revenue for athletic programs and universities, and serving as a focal point for alumni engagement and community pride.
Exploring these aspects further can provide a deeper understanding of the intricacies and significance of college football in American sports culture.

The B10 only wants AAU schools historically.
KU is logical given its closeness to Kansas City and it is an AAU member.
I think at this point, it is obvious that this is where we are heading. Since Fox said they did the deal with the Big 12 because they wanted to maintain a presence in Texas, I think Fox adds Tech & Houston to their B1G conference. This gives them a chunk of the DFW and Houston markets. Tech has one of the largest alumni and new student base in DFW and certainly the most passionate & loyal in all sports. Tech draws more fans to the Tech/TCU game in FW than TCU does, to the point to where you have to buy a 3 game plan if you want to buy a ticket to the Tech/TCU game. While UT & TAMU own the Houston market, the Coogs can get a lot of attention when they are winning.
The Horns and Aggies would block TT. The worst fan base in the country. At least 1A/1B with Ohio St. Pure trash.
Hopefully, like staples thinks, OKLAHOMA STATE, makes the cut for the big boy conferences. 👈🤠👉🔥🔥 GO POKES!!
I stopped watching the NFL about 10 years ago and havent watched a single down not even the super bowl. I stopped watching NASCAR because they priced out the fans that made them. If all this happens to CFB i will stop watching them. I quess ill have to give Spring football a try…
Dallas belongs to the longhorns, not TCU
My two cents: Texas Tech should go to the Big Ten, not SEC. The B10 would stamp their flag in the Lone Star state. Besides, UT and A&M already market the SEC there. It would be a perfect sense for that to happen.
What’s next South Dakota State join the Big Ten? North Dakota State?
Love the debate. Good stuff !
Congress needs to step in to protect this smaller, lower tier schools. Leagues shouldn't have to worry about being cannibalized to line ESPN's pockets. And I don't know, could the DOJ take anti-trust action? I just know I'm tired of this crap, the breaking up of rivalries and all that have been taking place.
I would be ok for asu to join the big ten lol
Do a super league, then I won't ever feel the need to watch football on Saturdays. Coming from an ISU fan who watches football all day on Saturdays. Whether it be Big 12, Big 10, SEC. Maybe I will get some stuff done on Saturdays and save some money on sports betting.
Thinking the B1G going to kick out members just to satisfy Big 12 die hards is laughable; Andy Katz list is more laughable
4:04 there’s no way this new super duo goes football only. The players are all multi sport colleges with profitable teams spanning basketball baseball volleyball softball and more. People love to see Nebraska vs Texas Penn State Stanford Kentucky volleyball but not TT vs Baylor. Your brands are dead or facing a FCS future.
The Staples article lost me at KSU over KU. That's just dumb. KU has one of the biggest remaining brands, and even the SEC presidents care about flagship AAU schools. He also assumed the Big 10 would double down in Pennsylvania, and the SEC would triple down in Texas and double down in Oklahoma. And Utah to the Big 10 is very unlikely.
Yes he may sound crazy but it's true the SEC has actively been recruiting West Virginia even before OU and Texas so isn't the Big 10 and the SEC is still after WVU but I will give it to wvu they are loyal to the big 12 and believe in the future of the Big 12 maybe a little to loyal they could be making alot more money in the SEC but I think they believe they have a shot at getting to the national championship in the Big 12 I don't know why the Big 12 is never going to promote WVU and definitely not push them to be the face of the conference for football even though from a marketing standpoint it makes the most since they're the biggest brand the big 12 has left not to mention they're about the only team in that conference that plays defense lol but hey that's good for the SEC and Big 10 as long as the big 12 keeps killing its biggest brands it makes it all the easier to poach from them and make them the pac 12 2.0 😂
I think he was predicting if it were to happen, I’m not so sure it’s going to happen, but the future lies with growth, market size, etc. and if that’s the case, you see us the biggest school in the country with one of the fastest growing markets and being in Central, florida is going to be considered and I’m betting that they’ll probably be a handful of school second booted out of the conference once he gets that kind of level and that point things will change
The SEC and Big 10 dont need money i promise you realistically location and demographic is all that matter which is why WVU looks all the more appealing right now and maybe just maybe OSU and TCU ot tech at a later time but right now from a realist stand point WVU is really the only school that makes sense for the SEC at this current point in cfb
The superleague and big 12 as a lower league is cool on paper, but completely lacks logic. The SEC & B1G haven't invited teams left in the big 12 for a reason. They aren't going to give up a big brand on a down year> for KState, Iowa State,UCF, BYU, Houston or any of your other group of 5 additions. It also would make no sense with how they schedule a couple years out. This is the idea of fans of teams on the outside looking in.
The Big 12 will be the third best conference in football. They'd be dumb to leave.
