BG Knocc Out Interviews L.V. about Getting Shot 9 Times, Gangsta's Paradise, Coolio (Full)



In this full-length interview by BG Knoccout, R&B veteran L.V. recounts growing up in South Central LA during the sixties, the youngest of six siblings, before talking about how his father inspired him as a singer. From there, he details an incident in 1984 when he was the victim of a drive-by shooting that resulted in him being bound to a wheelchair for two and a half years. Moving along, he recalls the release of the debut album from his old rap group, South Central Cartel, before explaining how the original group members recruited him. Later, L.V. talks about signing to an NYC-based label called Tommy Boy Records before talking about making his hit single  “Throw Your Hands Up” featuring Treach from Naughty by Nature. The 62-year-old then gives a background story about creating “Gangsta’s Paradise” and how Coolio initially gave him the run around regarding the classic collaboration. He also explains why the two artists disagreed financially over the award-winning track before stating that he loved that late rapper.
