Beyond Mach: US Finally Showed Their Incredibly Fast Hypersonic Aircraft

Speed — the one thing all useful aircraft have in common — and the more an aircraft has, the more invincible it becomes. Over the years, countries have set out to build the fastest aircraft they could build — aircraft so fast and invincible that cameras couldn’t capture them, Sound couldn’t keep up with them, and eyes could only see them as a blur. Of all the nations that set out to achieve this feat, the US has been the most successful at it. For the last four decades, an American aircraft has held the record for the fastest air-breathing aircraft in history. But the US isn’t stopping there, more and more aircraft are still being developed to go even faster. These ultra-fast American aircraft are the focus today and they will be discussed in detail in this video, starting with the record holder — the SR-71 Blackbird.

  1. Didn't the USAF already have a high speed Mach 3 + highly top secret high altitude spy plane in the 80s, called the Aurora. A friend I knew in the 80s, who worked at a London hotel, told me he just happened to see it flying over London one night. He said it made a pulsing noise, which made him look up to see it, a dark triangular shape moving real fast. I'm Not sure what he did see, but it was an interesting observation. I saw the SR71 flying at USAFE RAF Mildenhall and RAF Alconbury in the 80s. Awesome aircraft, very noisy with those powerful afterburners at takeoff ! 👍💗

  2. First of all SR71 is not the speed record holder.
MIG 25 and MIG 31 are both faster. With out all the fancy bs on the SR71. And there has not been any other plane made by US faster then SR71 and as far as the SR72 goes will see.since US is having so much problems to catch up with Russia in developing a hypersonic missile then it’s unlikely they can have made a hypersonic plane.

    WRONG FROM THE START.
There are plenty of aircraft that are NOT particularly fast.

And there's a REASON the SR-71 was retired before we had anything faster in the air to replace it – speed DOES NOT make an aircraft "invincible".

  4. Not any more china is way ahead of us. We’re screwed. Our current govt is more worried about laundering money to fund hunters crack pipe and big guys pedophilia habit than making America Great

  5. Titanium is not "the strongest metal". It's miracle properties are that it's only slightly heavier than aluminum, yet nearly as strong as steel, and holds its strength to elevated temperatures nearly as well as steel.

  6. I noticed a flash in that video of the Talon. What happened to that aircraft..? It flew in the movie Stealth with three pilots and an unmanned aircraft that was flown by Al. It was made in 2006 and then flew off the Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln. On a recent you tube video the Abraham Lincoln was in dock for updates. So the making of the film had to be before the updates or after. In any event where is the Talon which has been not seen since the movie. It was reported to fly at Mac 4 and they would have been marvellous at this time with the trouble of Russia and China.

  7. It wasn't about weight of the fuel on take off. The SR-71 was designed to expand as it reached speed and sealed up its joints due to heat. It leaked also because the JP7 fuel would dissolve fuel bladders so they were not used. This wasn't a flaw, it was an intentional design decision.

  8. The SR-71 could reach an altitude of 85,000 feet. Not a record for an air breathing jet. The British designed and built English Electric Lightening reached 88,000 feet whilst intercepting a U2. Not bad for British tech from the 1950s.
