  1. you are the first reviewer to point out that she’s was just trying to get the ladies name out there, so folks would go look up their music. It’s the negativity for me. I pray she never takes the negativity to heart.

  2. I can't believe Dionne Farris Wild Seed – Wild Flower was the first album you bought. That's so cool. You really are a real one. Thank you for using your platform and your voice to celebrate black women. Thank you for being able to say Black with your full chest and not shying away from uncomfortable topics. Thank you for always being fair, honest and fiercely thorough when it comes to your research, knowledge and sharing your opinion. Thank you for the content you create and the content you actively choose not to create (cough cough diddy). Thank you for the things you say and the things you don't (cough cough cough refusing to say Tina Turners first husbands name). Thank you for making a safe space for people who don't always have one. Thank you for your moments of vulnerability and sensitivity. You are seen and appreciated. And since you like Dionne Farris, if you haven't already, go check out Goapele and Dionne Farris – Same Ole Love Anita Baker tribute. It'll put the biggest smile on your face. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

  4. But all you hear is Beyonce stopped this person or that person's career, yet here she is helping these artists. Yeah, hate is real. Y'all haters can forget it. Queen B is an institution!!!

  5. Black Bird was written for the Little Rock Nine who integrated an all White school. The Little Rock Nine were nine African American students who enrolled at Little Rock Central High School in 1957, becoming the first African American students to attend the school. The students were:

Minnijean Brown, Terrance Roberts, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Thelma Mothershed, Melba Patillo, Gloria Ray, Jefferson Thomas, and Carlotta Walls.

  6. I’ve always loved the song “Blackbird”: As a black woman of a certain age — growing up in the 1970s — I’ve hummed and sang along to Paul McCartney’s version for as long as I can remember; and we learned the inspiration behind it in grammar school. So when I heard Beyoncé’s cover, I was so very pleased — It’s an absolutely gorgeous rendition (and I’m so happy for the young artists included!) I taught that song to my son when he was a toddler — big Beatles fan, that kid! Now, he’s 17 years old and plays both piano and guitar; we can enjoy Beyoncé’s “Blackbird” and the whole Cowboy Carter album together.
