Rin didn't know Sakura was getting abused. She came to know during the war and by that time she was the head of the Tohsaka family so she could not interfere in the matters of Matou. Rin always put up a brave front as the Head of the family decided to fulfill her duty by killing Sakura but at the last moment, she couldn't because of her love for her younger sister. Sakura finally realised that she was loved by Shirou and her Sister was able to detach herself from Angra Mainyu emotionally.

I don't get the Rin hate here. The AUDACITY to put her on the same level as Shinji… Rin did NOT know what went on in the Matou household. I don't understand where you are getting that from.
Rin was pretty important at the end. She got through to Sakura when she showed her that she still cares for her despite Sakura has done. That's why Shirou said that Rin won that one. She freed Sakura from her craze for power and revenge which was essential to actually save Sakura from herself.
This is a detail veteran fate fans know, the red haired woman who pass Rin/sakura is famous for making puppets where souls could inhabit that mock human bodies down to every detail. I recommend watching Garden of Sinners/Kara no Kyokao, also done by Ufotable. It has ties with the Fate universe but deals with a supernatural aspect of it.
Lol the Rin hate 😀 Just to clarify, Rin didn't know about the suffering Sakura went through. I think towards the end of the first movie they showed Rin and Archer going to the Matou house and finding the bug room – that's when Rin realized what Sakura had gone through, and she was horrified.

But okay about shirou in fate route he was weaker because archer died early he lost a lot of his magic circuits and gave it to saber so she can fight and survived being in grail mud for a long time when it corrupts servants easly and then they use op avalon in ubw he catch up to archer because of them clashing and in HF he basically became kinda Demi-servant fusing with archer arm and it became his own but his a glass cannon and he dies easly after couple of projections in the other ending when you dont get illya to like you enough he traces Excalibur and destroys grail with him dying and in one of the coolest bad endings Sparks Liner High he doesnt get from rider and fights 1v1 with saber and he wins but his mind fries before he can finish her and in other ending when he if Shirou refrains from finishing off Saber, she escapes and helps Sakura to defeat Rin. Sakura absorbs Rin and subjects her consciousness to the tortures that Sakura herself suffered in her past. When Shirou confronts Sakura, she absorbs him as well so yeah she gets the buggs too and shirou before going in her hear her screams. Nine Lives is actually a Berserker abillty which he cant use it in this HGW and its nine slashe faster then lightning and shirou can use it beacause his tracig is special and he traces not only a weapon but a whole history and abillties that the main reason why he beat Gil bcs gil couldnt keep up bcs shirou had max potencial on every weapon he used. But he was only kill herc bcs his skill God Hand was destroyed during Salter fight she peeled his skin off so he can be killed with the same weapon. Remember these are 3 timelines so they each have their own story and ending there is actually a Fate route ending when shirou goes to avalon and finds saber and lives with her after years of searching. But okay about the 3 families makiri are matous but they changed overtime and yes the blue guy there is Zouken 500 earlier the wihte girl in Justize(illya has her memories thats why she called zouken makiri and thats why she knows this stuff) which he loved and Tohsaka Nagato together they yearned to get to the root of akasha and with help of Zelretch the guy that rin used sword from they created the holy grail system but over years to get back lost True Magic called Heavens' Feel which at the end Illya use the incomplite version to save shirou soul bcs HF is the magic to materialize the soul ive heard if it was complete magic shirou could have ended immortal and why shirou lives bcs rin and sakura searched for a puppet body to give him and they found Touko Aozaki (Garden of Sinners important character) and she made them one body and her puppet are so good that when shirou soul was implanted it became just like a human body. Also there are 5 True magic from which 1 one is mostly unknown but is it is related to the generation of Ether Clumps which are conductor of Magical Energy the 2 TM which belongs to Zelretch(the guy that helped create HGW) and is called Kaleideoscope (mhhm Fate/Kaleid prisma illya) and it basically makes Zelretch one of the strongest characters in fate and tsukihime it allows him to look through parallel worlds and he is basically outside of time and space and can change timelines that why he doesnt interfiere usually and he the one that defeated Type- Moon which is the sole reason for creation of vampires in fate and tsukihime 3 TM is Heaves feel ive talked about it 4 TM Unnamed – The currently existing magi will say that "it definitely exists" when talking about it and agree that it continues to exist. The name of the user is unknown even to them the only thing we know is that is related to black holes and 5 TM is called Magic Blue and is possed by Aoko Aozaki (sister of the puppet girl Touko) and is basically time travel or like taking time from someone and accelerating oneself years and magic capabilities. Okay i think thats all but fate never ends you can watch way more like Carnival Phantasm (cool parody with fate and tsukihime characters definitely worth watching) Fate/Apocrycha, Fate/Zero but you know this one, Fate/Kaleid (illya happy finally best girl) , Today's Menu for the Emiya Family just masterchef cute story, Lord El-Melloi II its about a character from Zero so watch after zero, Fate/Extra last encore its cool but you will have no idea wtf is going on, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia which is only VN for now its a sequel to all 3 routes merged together and has kirei daughter in it aswell as lancer true master and angra manyu, Fate/Strange Fake which will come out in like couple of months, and so many of mangas or light novels only and some games and of course FGO couple anime adaptations and the gacha game which the story get rly fking good oh and Fate/grand carnival which is basically carnival phasntasm but with fgo characters
All Rin knew was that Sakura had been choosen to be the heir to the Matou family magic. That's it. She had no idea about her sister living conditions, otherwise she would have done something about it.
On the other side, Rin and Sakura's father (Tokiomi) was the one that decided to give her other daughter to the Matou, knowing that they had no heir (Shinji was born without magic circuits) and would have done the same even if he had known what Zouken would have done to her daughter: we know about this because in Fate/Zero, Kariya Matou basically tells him and he replies that it doesn't matter, all that matters to him is that both her daughters inherit the magic crest of a mage family (since usually each mage family can have only one heir) and so, should Rin had failed to reach the Root in the future (the final objective of basically every mage), Sakura could have attempted it as well.
Summarizing, it's HIS fault, not Rin's. And it's pretty well explained in Fate/Zero.

Oh and the movie doesn''t do a good job explaining the ending; basically Shirou's body disintegrated (it was basically broken beyond any hope anyway), but Illya used an incomplete form of the Third Magic (also called Heaven's Feel) to save Shirou's soul. Rin and Sakura then searched for a way to bring Shirou back since they had his soul, and they got Touko Aozaki (the redhead woman at the end), the puppet maker, to make a puppet body. Touko is a main character in the Garden of Sinners series btw (animated by ufotable into a movie series).
So that's how Shirou is actually there in the end; Touko's puppets are really good, so Shirou's body is basically just as good as his original body.
Also, there is another ending in the Visual Novel for this route. That one is super sad, basically Illya doesn't show up at the end and Shirou somehow projects Excalibur, destroys the Grail and just dies. Sakura never gets over this, lives in Shirou's house until she is an old woman, always expecting Shirou to finally come home to her.
Still sad that we didn't get an OVA or something of Sparks Liner High (a "bad" end, where SHirou fails to convince Rider to fight Saber Alter with him, and fights Saber Alter alone. Super badass Shirou there)
Shirou managed to survive because of Illya by giving him the third magic (magic to naturalize the soul) and with the little magic that was in the pendant he managed to save his soul, Rin and Sakura find a container for his soul (the one shown in the movie And when Shirou merged he managed to survive (the body he has is like that of any human being, that is, he can get sick and old, but it is easier to use magic), about Rin, they would have to see Fate zero to understand the complicated relationship of the sisters rin and sakura.

Frankly, I would suggest watching Garden of Sinners before you watch Fate Zero. It will help elucidate what exactly happened there in the end with Shirou. Though, most people will probably disagree with that watch ordering.
And if you do watch Garden of Sinners, personally I prefer to watch it in chronological, rather than release order. The release order mixed up the timeline in order to add mystery to it. But it's also really confusing, especially when you have four people watching it. You have to pay really close attention to understand it and with four people that's hard.
I don't get where the Rin hate came from, it's shown Rin is also angered for what happened to Sakura, she didn't know what happened in the Matou after all. The fact she, the one mage who really are the MAGES (as in commited to do anything for victory) can't finish of Sakura is because her inner conflict with her sisterly love.
Idk if this is the best route or not since i love the UBW ending more but this is for sure the route that have almost everything resolved for me. In the other 2 routes idk what happened to Sakura, Ilya also never get a proper end in the other 2 while in this one atleast she goes on her own will to help shirou and not being stabbed to death with mr shining boy. Berserker also got somewhat a relief, Rin get to be Sakura's sister again, Shirou didn't became the guardian and abandon his reckless "i'll save everyone" – hero complex.
